Stayed here for 4 weeks in June as I was here to deliver my baby in Prince Rupert from up North, intended to stay for all of July to have a baby July 17th but they were unable to accomodate and asked if we would move out for a prebooked reservation for 7 days in the middle of the month the week I was due. NOPE. They had a 4 day booking in JUNE as well that, in order to relieve the bother, I had to split the cost to upgrade them to a better room for their stay so we didnt have to move out for 4 days in June (even at this time I had planned/booked and paid to stay for 2 months!) Upon arrival, the room was very dusty, the floors had dead wood bugs and spider carcasses under all the furniture and cobb webs on the cieling. It had not been cleaned to our prior arrival after the winter season of not being used. I had to purchase my own cleaning supplies and they lent me a vacuum that had never been emptied or cleaned out as it shot rocks and dirt out more than it cleaned up. The house keeping staff here are very friendly and helpful, they brought me fresh linens weekly and would take care of my recycling if I would leave it in the hall as they would take empties as well. The owner was less accomodating. I wanted to pull out the hide-a-bed to watch movies and there was no sheet or cover on the dirty mattress, he would not let me get one unless i paid a $20 fee for additional linens. I was shocked. On top of the pre-booked guests move in and out fiascos, not putting those guests into EMPTY rooms, as they were an upgraded more expensive room, that also added to my displeasure. Laundry is $2 wash and $2 dryer on site, there is a phone in the lobby though make sure you have the hotels contact number with you incase you forget your keycard and get locked out. There is not a regular person stationed at the front desk and you need to contact the owner to come to the premises. There is no Gym or games room as listed in the amenities though I was told when we arrived 3 weeks ago it would be ready within the week. Still not available. The BBQ works great and the garden is beautiful with a nice deck to enjoy the good summer days on. Over all, nice sized suites, could be better furnished and updated (i was in apt 9, and older unit). The bed fram was horrible (very noisy whenever you move) and the mattress NEEDS to be replaced. Overall happy with our stay, but will be staying airbnb...
Read moreA lodging house in search of an identity. Is it a hotel? A long term residence? A Hostel? Yes.
Stayed here for one night, on a camping trip, coming off the Port Hardy to Prince Rupert Ferry. Staff is quite understanding about late night check-ins off the ferry.
Entire complex occupies several buildings, and we stayed in the main reception building.
Building is definitely "worn around the edges", but by no means decrepit. Older building, narrow hallways and staircase - but serviceable. Other buildings in the complex might be different. Was a shared kitchen - hostel style - off the main lobby.
Our room was likewise "worn around the edges" in the furniture, although the bathroom had been recently renovated, and was quite bright and clean. Small balcony had a scenic view of the wall of the next building, and the parking lot - but we were only there for the one night, and on the road early the next day, so we weren't there for the view.
Other rooms on the floor shared a bathroom which was across the hall from our room (although we didn't notice any noise from its use).
We had booked this place specifically as we were looking for "character" and "quirky" rather than the cookie-cutter experience of a chain hotel.
Definitely quirky! Nothing terrible, or unpleasant about our stay - but might be a bit too eclectic for my tastes. Your mileage may vary.
Price wasn't noticeably different than a...
Read moreThere were dirty underwear and socks in the drawers!!! I would highly recommend to avoid staying here. The overall cleanliness was very poor. |We booked for 5 adults. Even phoned and emailed prior to the time to confirm that we will be 5 adults and that one will be sleeping on the pullout couch, but then were not supplied any linen. Had to call up the attendant in the middle of the night to get more linen. Not enough towels. |The blinds in the living room, where the pullout couch is located, were broken. Only covers half of the window. We had to use a loose blanket to cover up the window. |Parking was very limited. We got off the ferry after midnight, and so I guess we arrive late to get access to parking. |On a positive note, it seems that there was some attempts made to modernize the place, but cleanliness should be a priority.|We ran into the custodian in the morning and brought up the cleanliness and she seemed very dismissive of our concerns. No front desk attendant were available in the morning when we...
