The front desk guy was super nice and lovely to talk with. Would talk and assess any concerns with a smile and a good attitude. He was able to process and get through all my requests in a timely manner, while being super respectful about it. He's the only good thing that came out of this stay. He should pack up and work for a better company than this one.
Rooms were awful. The room would get so unbelievably hot, and the AC seemed to not work at all or at least not do ANYTHING to help with the hotness. Bathroom had an exhaust fan, but it barely worked as even a cold shower would fog up the entire bathroom. The tub also had some hair or pubic hair when we first entered. And floor seemed dirty near the toilet. The tv, microwave, and bed seemed to be in good condition though and the sheets were neat and clean so ill give them that. The walls of the room seemed so dirty, and it looked like they painted over it so many times without preparing it. Floor was pretty clean as well. Saw a bed bug towards the end of my stay which was terrible.
Pool was a 50/50. the pool was big and the slide was super fun and seemed to be cleaned. like other people have mentioned, the pool stairs look like they are falling apart, but it didnt seem unsturdy to me. The water is too warm to my liking though, and smelled a bit weird. Pool floor looked clean. Hottub looked a little dirty, but its far away from the main pool so it was ok. The lady folding or working the tiki bar needs to be FIRED. as I myself and other people on here are complaining about her. I wanted to ask her a question but noticed that she was talking with someone else, so I figured I would wait it out because i didnt want to interrupt. 10 minutes pass and they are still talking, so I figured it wasnt a customer she was helping out and was just a friend of hers. I decide to go up and ask her by this time, as I gave them a pretty solid amount of time to talk with each other. I start walking up to the lady (shes in the tiki bar) - and I stand somewhere near the dude for her to see me and assess whatever concerns I had. THE DUDE SHE WAS TALKING TO- HAD TO STOP THE CONVERSATION FOR HER AND POINT TO ME. I kid you not, i stood there patiently for a good 30 seconds (she knew i was there) before she asked me what I needed. How are you going to just stand there (knowing a customer is waiting for you to assess them) and wait for the DUDE YOURE TALKING TO- to stop the convo FOR YOU and tell YOU to help a customer out? I dont know who hired this dumbass, but she needs training for customer service. Anyhow, she asks me what I needed and i ask her a simple question, to which she responds to with attitude. First, youre gonna watch me stand there for a minute before you attend to me, and when you do, you act like im interrupting YOU ?!?!??!?!??!? You are here to work, not gossip. Sure, the pool wasnt too busy so i didnt mind her chitchatting with someone. But to act as if IM INTERRUPTING HER conversation is beyond I N S A N E. I told her thank you after the conversation as I am not one to confront someone in front of other people, and she had the audacity to stare at me with judgemental eyes and not say anything back. I walked away and my stay was ruined. A few friends had also seen her giving hell to two kids for whatever reason. Seems like she has zero customer service training and should honestly be fired. I understand some people have had bad encounters with her as well due to the reviews. I understand that there are rules, but have some human decency and address them with kindness and not a bitchy-ass attitude. Ruins peoples days. Get a job NOT in customer service or just dont work at all, because she has not an ounce of professionalism in her body.
Overall, stay was the worst ive ever had my whole entire life. Neighborhood was sketchy as well, but can't blame the hotel as they are near downtown where the crackheads are usually at.
To the guy working front desk: there are way more better hotel companies...
Read moreLocated right on the main strip, this destination is great for travelers who are visiting for events in Regina. I booked through Expedia, and instantly recieved a message stating I must use a bank issued credit card for my deposit. So I messaged them back asking if my VISA debit would work. Where they responded verbatim "a 'debit card' is not the same thing as a 'credit card'". I knew right there I should have probably canceled my reservation. When I called the hotel, the nice lady that answered the phone let me know that A CREDIT CARD IS NOT REQUIRED. They will accept a $250 cash deposit. So a debit card will suffice. Weird... We arrived and got the last room on the main floor that subsequently was right beside an emergency exit. That door didn't close at night, and the outside door that should require card access, didn't lock. At night there were people frequently coming and going to smoke, as well as leaving the hallway door open which created a draft that couldn't be fixed because the thermostat didn't work. It only turned the heater on or off. The temperature on the thermostat didn't change the output temperature on the unit itself. Upon arrival, we noted a few issues with the room. The chairs were stained, the hair dryer didn't blow air at all -it simply got red hot (burning hot. 100% a fire hazard), the shower head was loose to the point of almost falling off (shottily taped by an obviously unqualified technician or lazy plumber), the toilet seat was completely loose (the lid came off when my daughter used it). I went to the front after we had eaten supper and told the lady working at the front about the maintenance issues. The next day when I went to go to my vehicle, I realized that someone was obviously smoking in the hallway beside our room because of the stench being so strong. That was when I realized that the exterior door in the back didn't lock. I went to the front to check out and got dismissive service by the man confirming the room wasn't trashed. I understand the process, but I hadn't anticipated the 10 minute wait. The attendant suggested I "go take a walk and start the car or something". Lucky for me, it was already started. When talking with other parents. One told me she felt unsafe on the 3rd floor because there were 2 men hanging out in the hallway by the elevator when they were getting ready to leave. The whole floor smelled of smoked cigarettes, and the men were open drinking a 26 of alcohol. So her and her family took the stairs instead. If management feels they want to have a real conversation about this, please feel free to message or call me. This was by far my least favorite hotel experience as a sport dad in the 7 years I've been staying in hotels for events. I visit on average 5 hotels a season. The other staff I interacted with were awesome! Attentive, polite, and welcoming. The other issue is the restaurant that is attached to the hotel. The patrons go outside to smoke, which makes the whole front of the hotel smell like cigarettes as you walk through the crowds of smokers ignoring the 10 meter sign. I encourage these people to create a designated smoking area to separate the families from the hoards of drunk smokers that they have to walk through to enter...
Read moreSeven Oaks - Under New Ownership. We booked this hotel before when it was still a Best Western. We were there with 3 teams, we booked this hotel for the following reasons.
#1 - Location The location is still close to our event, however under no fault of the hotel it seems the area has gone down hill. Not that we had any issues, just its gone down hill.
#2 - Amenities (Pool, Arcade, onsite Restaurant (Free Breakfast), Bar, Off sale and Banquet Rooms) Pool - The lady that worked the Pool this past weekend personally should not be in the service industry. She was smoking within the facility and was extremely rude to the parents and kids. She even locked the interior hotel doors before they exited the pool. The young man working was the complete opposite, very polite. Even when he had to tell the parents no drinks not even water was allowed within the pool area. He still did it in a polite manner. Which brings be to another point, its unfortunate that they do not have the permit's in place to allow parents watching there kids swim to have a coke or water. As the pool area is awesome and great for team events. Arcade - Unfortunately this was no longer at the hotel, we knew this ahead of time so that was okay but I must say it was a great room to rent out for teams to keep them occupied and out of hotel rooms. Restaurant - No longer Ricky's but the staff were amazing, super fast service. The hotel honored our free- breakfast since we booked before the hotel had new ownership which has taken that away. Bar - Great Server and its clean, its to bad the new ownership closes it at 9:30 and then 10:30 on weekends as you have nowhere to go. Off-Sale - Great workers and lots of options to choose from - good hours Banquet Rooms - Because of the Bar not staying open past 10:30pm, we booked a room. which was great except (we need to be out by 11:30pm) No were to go again.
Huge Thanks to the Porter - Unfortunately I did not get his name, but he was Superman, I don't think there is an area or job this guy did not do. If I needed an employee in Regina I would hire him ASAP. 5 Stars * to him.
We stayed during the heat wave this past weekend, and Unfortunaly they have very old AC units in the rooms causing an absolute horrible sleep experience. We lucky as we were on the main floor and had a fan. But some of the rooms on the second floors were sweat boxes. Upon check-out the young man working the front desk gave us $25.00 off per night. It was something but seriously without new AC units there is no way I could stay here again in the summer.
The Assistant General Manger, who I never meet only via email was also great. He was great getting our reservations in place and making sure we had all the rooms needed for our groups.
Hotel has the bones to be an amazing Hotel again, if we need to book a team again I will be contacting the Assistant GM and seeing if the concerns were addressed or not before I booked.
I needed to edit this review, I must say they responded very quickly, and they have already addressed...
