Agave Mexican Grill – A Lucky Surprise Worth Sharing Last night, I took my family out to *Agave Mexican Grill* to celebrate Mexican Independence Day, and wow, what a night! We were just expecting a nice dinner, but to our surprise, there was a live mariachi band playing. We had no idea they were going to be there (seriously, Agave… you missed a golden chance to advertise this and pack the place!). We’d been searching for weeks for a spot with mariachis for this special day, and after coming up empty, we gave up. Then, by pure luck, “like finding an extra taco in the bag”, we ended up at Agave. And it turned out to be perfect. The atmosphere was festive, the music was lively, and the food? “Ay, caramba!” Authentic, flavorful, and served fast with a smile. From the moment we walked in, the service was top-notch, friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. It felt like being at a family gathering, minus the tío who always wants to sing after two tequilas. We ate well, sang along with the mariachi (some of us off-key, but with heart!), and had a blast. It was one of those nights that just felt right, full of laughter, good food, and that warm, fuzzy feeling you get when everything clicks. **Would I recommend it? Absolutely.** Just one small suggestion: please let people know when you’re having live music! It makes a big difference, and I’m sure a lot more folks would’ve loved to join the party. ¡Y que viva México! Carlos

This is the most authentic Mexican Restaurant in Saskatchewan and it doesn’t fail to deliver in hospitality and quality food. The atmosphere is exciting, with bright colours and fantastic Mexican music. The ambiance is cantina style, with beautiful painted images and atmospheric lighting. I cannot say enough good things about the wait staff and owners. They are warm, friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The chef, Sergio Reyna is a master in the kitchen and a kind, intriguing gentleman on the restaurant floor. Gracias Sergio, for not only a stellar meal, but for the sample of your delicious tamale as well. The joy of sharing food means my friend and I get to try as much as possible. We both had a lime margarita and it was bright and tasty and authentic, a word I will use a lot here. An appetizer of fresh guacamole, to dip in, was out of this world. Seriously, the best guacamole I’ve ever eaten. I had the mole chicken with refried beans and rice and it delivered an authentic Mexican kick of flavour in every bite. My pal had the choribeef alambre skillet and it too was sensational with spicing and flavour. We ate every morsel and I even cleaned the guacamole bowl with my finger. Unfortunately, too full for dessert, but that’ll be another treat another time. If you want the best and most authentic Mexican food, do yourself a favour and visit the exceptional Agave!

Agave Authentic Mexican Grill is a restaurant that embodies the essence of Mexico with its meticulously designed and colorful interior, making you feel like you’ve stepped into the heart of Mexico. Although I’ve never tried authentic Mexican food before, I was thoroughly impressed by the guacamole made with avocado, tomatoes, red onions, and lime. Paired with corn chips, it was simply amazing, and I’d give it a 10 out of 10. The salsa sauce was another highlight—spicy but perfectly balanced and flavorful. I tried the tacos, and while they didn’t quite meet my expectations, I loved the sautéed beef filling. On the downside, I didn’t enjoy the tortillas as much; they were a bit tough for my liking, and if you have sensitive teeth, they might not be ideal. One pleasant surprise was the friendly staff, especially a particular waitress who remembered me from a previous encounter at my workplace. Overall, my experience at Agave Authentic Mexican Grill was memorable and enjoyable.

So below this is my old review, not long after I had posted this review; Sergio the owner/chef immediately jumped to make things right after a not so wonderful experience. He was extremely apologetic and willing to do what it takes to create the customer experience everyone deserves. We were taken care of during our meal by Wendy, the manager and Yitza (sorry if I spelt that wrong), our server both of whom were amazing/friendly. Yitza was very attentive and we will be asking to be seated in her section on future visits. The food! It was hot! What more could you ask for, it was amazing as we suspected it could be with a change in temperature. We were more than thrilled with our new experience at Agave, and will happily be back again in the future. To the wonderful staff/Sergio we dealt during this visit at Agave, thank you. A restaurant as good as this has the profound ability to be continually amazing based solely on staff like you.

The old review: How does one sum up such a disappointing experience? We came in about a week ago, and we were thoroughly unimpressed. Firstly, it was very busy, while this doesn’t normally lead us stray (a good kitchen staff should be able to keep up), we should have ran for the hills immediately. We were sat in a section with a large birthday party and it seemed it was all the staff could comprehend to take care of. We received menus right away, but no one appeared to take drink orders for at least twenty minutes, and at least another twenty before said drinks arrived. Following that, we didn’t have anyone come back to take food orders for quite a while after as well. We had been sitting in the restaurant for an hour and a half before we even received our appetizer, which was cold; and the waiter we were able to flag down (not ours) justified it by saying “it’s supposed to be luke warm to cold”. I don’t know about you, but 99.9% of restaurants I’be even been to, don’t tell you something hot is supposed to be something cold. Additionally, when we complained that we hadn’t received our entrees yet while we could clearly see several people around us receiving theirs when they had arrived after us, the food magically arrived within minutes. Oh and spoiler, also cold. Food itself was good, would be better hot like...

Unjust Treatment of Employees - Agave Authentic Mexican Grill Review

My recent experience with Agave Authentic Mexican Grill of Regina has left me profoundly disappointed and disheartened. I feel compelled to share my review to shed light on the unfair treatment of my granddaughter, which I find to be wholly unacceptable.

To provide context, my granddaughter has been under doctor's care due to a painful injury and has been prescribed strong medication to manage her pain. Despite being fully aware of her condition, the restaurant management called her last night and asked her to come in and help with setup, even though she was scheduled to be off work and under the care of a medical professional.

What adds insult to injury is that when my granddaughter dutifully showed up on her day off today, she was abruptly and unjustly terminated without cause. This callous action speaks volumes about the lack of compassion and consideration shown by Agave Authentic Mexican Grill towards its employees.

As a concerned customer, witnessing this blatant mistreatment has significantly tarnished my perception of this establishment. It is crucial for any workplace to prioritize the well-being and safety of their employees, especially when they are under medical care. By willfully disregarding my granddaughter's health and firing her without proper justification, Agave Authentic Mexican Grill has demonstrated a complete lack of empathy and respect.

I sincerely hope that the management of Agave Authentic Mexican Grill reflects upon its actions and reconsiders its approach to employee welfare. No one should be subjected to such callous treatment, especially during a time of vulnerability and medical need.

Regrettably, based on the unjust treatment my granddaughter endured, I cannot in good conscience recommend Agave Authentic Mexican Grill to others. I urge potential patrons to consider supporting establishments that prioritize the well-being and fair treatment of their employees. It is through our collective choices that we can foster a more compassionate and...

*edit original experience below.

I was reached out to after my previous experience to bring my party back. And I am certainly glad we went back. This time the service was phenomenal and once again the food was very delicious. The server we had on this experience was very kind, great to chat with, gave some good info about a few menu questions and took care of our drinks orders quickly and checked on us regularly to ensure we had a great visit.

Started off pretty shaky, had a reservation for a friends birthday. Walked in with a party of 4 people, then proceeded to stand there for about 10 minutes. Before being acknowledged, then when the bar tender of all places saw nobody was seating us left from the bar to seat us. Then we waited about 10 more minutes to get water and menus from our waiter (whom we saw maybe 3 times during the entire 2 hour stay). Drink ordered were pretty quick surprisingly since it seemed like the bartender was doing 3 people’s worth of work. Waited maybe 15 more min to try to order food. Which again surprisingly was pretty quickly brought out by other staff members. And credit where it’s due the food was fantastic. But not nearly good enough to justify having to wait for any type of service. No check in to how food is, check to see if you want any more drinks. More waiting to try to get a take out box for one member of the parties food. Then tried to order dessert for the person with the birthday but nobody was there to ask. At this point the entire party wanted to walk out since it seemed nobody was interested in taking our money since my wallet was on the table credit card out for about 20 minutes. When someone did eventually show up they asked if there was anything going on to which we said it was a birthday supper. Then they said oh we could have brought some churros which at this point just got under everyone’s skin even further.

Don’t plan on dining in here again any time soon which is a shame because the food really was good. I just can’t justify wasting that...
