This review is solely based on my experience with their VR arcade selection. Not escape room

When my partner and I visited last week, I was very excited as it had been some time since I had the chance to be in VR, and it was my partner's first time.

When we entered, I confirmed the reservation I had made earlier in the day, we paid and were told we would have to choose the games from the front desk, which is really no big deal

We had to put ourselves into the equipment, so I had to give my partner vague instructions on how to do some stuff, as I'm used to htc vive equipment as opposed to the oculus rift equipment they have.

The only two times one of two staff came to the room were to move us to different equipment because the ones we chose weren't working. The only quirky thing was that I ended up getting moved to my partner's Original station which she had been told 3 minutes prior wasn't working.

The staff that were in, I was told, are new. They had no information on games, and were ill prepared to offer the service. When I mentioned that I was surprised no one came to check on how we were doing, the part owner I talked to claimed he didn't want staff to break VR immersion.

I had fun with the second game I had to choose, since the first game wasn't working, however my session ended earlier than it should have, which erased my progress in the game.

My partner had to end her first game due to being unfamiliar with the controls, which lead to her next experience to be partially blocked on one side by the oculus menu until about halfway through when she found the close button by accident.

In my emails with a part owner, he did apologize, and said they were looking at ways to improve, however acted overly defensive to some of my suggestions. Unfortunately he only offered a refund or a chance for the two of us to try an escape room experience (which we don't particularly enjoy) rather than offering us a redo on our original experience.

If you choose the VR arcade experience, make sure you research controls prior to arrival, just to make sure you'll get the full experience, and do so for multiple games just in case your first choice...

We booked in for a game on a weekend, one about a museum heist.

On arrival we found free street parking across from the building. There was parking alongside the building as well.

The entry way leads you through a hallway packed with things to look at- board games galore. It’s actually really neat and we wanted to dillydally and check it all out but we had our appointment to make.

The check in is tucked around the corner and looks like they’re in a control room. It adds to the vibe.

Staff was very engaged and welcoming. Played into the experience.

Our room was small but somewhat challenging. The puzzles here vary, from locks to magnets to lasers. It was super cool to have such a diverse puzzle set to work through. The room was well designed and put together, and we did find we needed a few hints to get through. We managed to escape with two minutes to spare.

It was a great way to spend an hour, encouraging creative thinking, problem solving and team work/team building.

If you’ve never done an escape room before you should give it a try. They’re such a fun way to engage your brain and build excitement. District 3 is really neat and I’d come back for more. I’d even be willing to try one of their VR escape...

My family visited from Winnipeg. I called ahead to ask about rooms that would be appropriate for the youngest kid. The person I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and very friendly. We did 'Haunted'. It was a clever room that had an element of spooky but it was not scary. Definitely family friendly and would highly recommend. We did not escape but we had fun. Afterwards we tried the Christmas VR to see what it was like because we had never tried VR before. It took a bit to get used to but my family enjoyed it and would do it again. District 3 has a really good selection of tabletop games as well as some puzzle books. The best selection I have ever seen in one place. David was our gamemaster and he was very patient and took a lot of time explaining the room to us after. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we booked another room for the following day. Again, we had a very good time. The owners are awesome and made our visit a memorable one and we will definitely head out west...

Okay, so my family and myself did the “Something Brewing” escape room 2 years ago. And let me tell you, this has been hands down our favourite escape room by far. If you’re looking for a place that fully commits to decorating multiple rooms, actors, and different types of puzzles/mechanics, this is place! We cannot stop bringing up this place when conservations come up. Next time we visit Regina, definitely will be making a stop or two here again. The staff are also incredible and I cannot recommend this place enough!

This was my first time coming to District 3 (but not my first escape room) and I have to say I am IMPRESSED! We did "The Cabin" and found it challenging but so much fun. There are so many puzzles and different kinds of puzzles which we enjoyed. I highly recommend checking out District 3 Escape Rooms! Edit: I have now done "Haunted" and it was so much fun! I was always questioning what was next and it was the perfect degree of challenging. Another great room to try!
