We stayed two nights at the Sleep Inn while visiting SSM for a wedding, and were thoroughly pleased with our experience. We had a cozy second floor room, which looked out over the parking lot and neighbourhood, with a very comfortable king size bed. Note: there is no elevator; the second floor is only accessible by stairs. The wifi was free and easy to connect to, and they served a very tasty free breakfast (eggs, sausage, waffles, cereal, etc) in the morning, as well as coffee throughout the day! One particular highlight of our stay were the towels in the washroom - I have stayed at some high end hotels that didn't have towels as soft and fluffy as the ones at the Sleep Inn. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, and were kind enough to let us hang out in the lobby for a few hours after checkout until our airport shuttle arrived. I look forward to staying here again, and recommend it as a budget-friendly place to stay when visiting SSM!

The inn is located a few short blocks from downtown. We stayed 2 nights over a weekend. The room, on the upper floor, albeit large just enough to fit a king size bed, 1 night table, a sofa chair, and a desk/counter, was clean and had all the essentials (shampoo, conditioner, soap, body lotion, coffee machine) and more (iron board, hair blower, flat screen tv, USB chargers). The walls were not sound-proof. We could hear the conversations of the guests in the next rooms. The shower and shower ventilation system were fairly noisy. The reception desk staff was friendly and efficient. The continental breakfast was decent. Overall, it's a pretty good 2.5-star inn.

The bedding looked clean and pillows were super fluffy! The shower had some mildew discoloration in the caulk, but otherwise seemed clean. It was a pretty small room. They allowed us to bring our cat (pet friendly) for an extra $15 fee. My cat stretched out on the bed and yawned after his inspection of the room, so I think he approved. The complimentary breakfast was mostly gluten, but had some sausages and eggs. It was a fine stay and we didn't have any issues, but I'd still rather stay at the Microtel because it's nicer overall but unfortunately doesn't allow cats.

Don't stay here, we were robbed twice. We stayed one night on the way to Thunderbay. On the first night our bikes were tampered with. My seat was stolen and the quick release was taken out and the bike was completely tampered with and I could not ride it. It ruined the first half of our trip because we were staying at sleeping giant and had to ride into Thunderbay twice to get it fixed. Hotel had no cameras that saw what happened apparently. Cost me so much extra in time and parts, I ended up spending over $100 to get the BRAND NEW BIKE fixed. Of course hotel could and did nothing. Was referred to a local Facebook group to post and see if anyone finds the seat. Lol. When we were on the road we realized we left a Columbia rain coat in the room. We called and let them know, they said nothing turned up but they would call us if found. We were out of cell service for several days but on our way back to Sault Sainte Marie we called to see if they found it. They said no. So either housekeeping stole the jacket that was in the closet, or they don't clean their suites properly and the next guest stole the jacket. Front staff was rude on the phone when we called on our way back and had no concern for our property being taken from the room or tampered with in the parking lot. When we said we wouldn't come back there to stay, the lady said "alrighty". That's it. Horrible place. Don't stay, not worth it. Worst place and experience I have ever had staying at a hotel. Showers also had hair from last guest I'm assuming and mould on the...

Got walked because I didn’t show up on time; not worth booking

Editing now on August 6 (adding info) because I can’t reply to the post below. I booked this hotel over the phone and provided a credit card 6 days ago. The agent only asked for the credit card number and the expiry so perhaps this is why the hotel couldn’t run the card on site. However, waiting until 9pm to check to see if my card worked isn’t a great idea imo. It should have been checked days before I planned on checking in.

I was not paying attention to my phone as it was muted on the way to the hotel so I couldn’t call to say I was going to be late. They did call and email, but I didn’t receive it on time and they gave my room away.

I understand that this is how hotels operate as they want to fill rooms, but I don’t see a point in using the call centre to book this hotel if a perfectly valid credit card can be entered incorrectly and incomplete, and your room will be given away if you aren’t glued to your phone on the way there.

This is why I don’t think the place is worth booking. Perhaps go back to a local booking system to avoid miscommunication and I will try this place the next...

This is hands down the best pet friendly home in Sault Ste. Marie, possibly in all of Ontario. We used the stay at the Water Tower Inn when we passed through Sault Ste. Marie, but they drastically reduced their availability for pet friendly rooms, and were never really accommodating when we were able to book a room. For our next trip through, we found this hotel not knowing what to expect, and it ended up being the best hotel we stayed at. We had come from BC and encountered hotels that while pet friendly, never came close to the level of service this hotel did.

When we checked in July 9th, we were immediately greeted with dog cookies and doggie bags. The front desk lady working that night was so friendly and accommodating, and the hotel made sure we were close to a door for our dog. It was the comfiest bed and the nicest shower, and we loved that it’s so close to the water. We were also blown away by the continental breakfast, it was the best one offered during our 6 day road trip.

I can not rave about this hotel enough, and will recommend it to anyone passing through...
