The food was good I say good because I am not a big fan of butter chicken but it was fresh and cooked properly. The service can be really improved I believe especially on customer service side. Threre was just one lady, middle aged blonde hair with glasses, perhaps it was work burden or so, she was literally running and bumping into chairs and tables. She brought me knife aND fork, the fork was with the paper and she kept knife on my cell phone. I asked her to kindly if she could give me another knife, she ran brought another knife and kept it again on my cell phone and just ran to another table for taking order. I thought never mind I would just use fork to eat food. The washroom was not in a very good condition and the commode seats top plastic should be changed, it's dirty and is scratched. Washroom also doesn't have any paper roller stand, just a paper roll over the commode. At the sink area, there is a paper roll stand but perhaps.it's out of order or doesn't really have paper in it. The place can be filtered a little more for food smell, do not mind the usual.smell of food.but the smell coming directly from kitchen can perhaps be subsidized. I really believe that customer experience can be improved...
Read moreI'm not from Sault Ste. Marie but I'm visiting for work and was craving Indian food for dinner so I gave this place a try. I ordered the meat platter from the appetizer menu which was really a small plate, definitely not a platter. It was alright. It had two kinds of meat, one kind of pakora and one samosa. My disappointment was with the main dish. I ordered the butter chicken which is a classic Indian dish that's on every single Indian restaurant menu. I was very underwhelmed for several reasons. First of all, quantity. The amount of chicken was very little. They gave me a huge plate of white basmati rice and small portion of butter chicken. Definitely not proportionate. Secondly, it did not taste like butter chicken. It tasted like a regular chicken dish with sauce but definitely not butter chicken. Butter chicken is supposed to be creamy and the sauce is supposed to be thick. This dish was neither. It also didn't have the garam masala flavour that's usually in every butter chicken recipe. Another thing that upset me was WATER. I only asked for a cup of water and it came at room temperature. Not even a little bit cold. And it was served to me in a small plastic cup. Shouldn't it be glass for any dine...
Read moreMy first impression of this place was a bit off.. I was asked to seat myself (after waiting a few minutes, this is not a large restaurant BTW), only to find that there was only one table to sit at (all the others were vacant, but dirty). It seemed to my the wait staff was content to leave all the tables in the place dirty. The Beef Korma was very good, as far as I could tell. The Mulligatawny soup was not at all what I'm used to (this was more like a chicken soup), and while it was good, I prefer what I get from my local Indian restaurant. What impressed me was the price of the Mango juice ($1.99). That's decent, considering what restaurants often charge for juice, and this was a big glass. Overall a good experience, and I would return. Side note - very few restaurants within walking distance downtown.. I was very happy to...
