Top Hat Billiards — Restaurant in Sault Ste. Marie

My friends and I went to Top Hat/Smokey’s. We were having a nice time until we went outside to smoke. The security guy told us to move away were he couldn’t see us. Then he proceeded to light a cigarette right by the entrance. Then he had his wife smoking beside him. She is not an employee of top hat. I asked him why he and his wife were allowed to smoke by the entrance. He said that he was only working for 4 hours. I asked him why couldn’t he take a break after two hours to smoke somewhere else like us. He had no response for me. I then went inside and asked for the manager. I asked her the same question. She brushed me off. I then asked her for the owner’s phone number and instead of giving me the phone number she asked the security to escort me out. The customer service was very disappointing. I was only wanting to know why the employees were allowed to smoke beside the entrance and we weren’t. Instead she called the security guard on me. They weren’t very nice servers. I was very disappointed on how they don’t care about...

Not sure if the weekend outdoor bar staff haven't been properly trained or if they have their own little scam going on, but I've been there three times now and there is some SERIOUS UNDER-POURING going on. First the ladies pack the cup with ice and have about a 2 second liquor pour at the wrong angle. I can't even taste the alcohol, not to mention that it takes about 5 sips before you hear the ice sucking at the bottom of the cup. A simple & classic drink every bartender should know, however, even when I specify that I want Captain Morgan & Coke, they still pull & under-pour the bottom shelf well rum. After paying full price for a fraction of the drink value about 30 plus times in total, and then watching my husband pay for 'doubles' in addition, I feel foolish,robbed...and sober. If we weren't with a group we would have left without return. Fortunately for them, our friends enjoy canned beer. Can't mess that up. The service here is disturbingly horrible. Two times I caught my waitress tonight cutting my change short by $5-10, not including tip. When I addressed her she chalked it down to a simple, "oops, I forgot to give you your proper change." .... what? Twice you forgot, and both times didn't say anything until I addressed it? Bologna.

The female bartenders tonight were unfriendly, made my two buddies and I feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. The petite redhead was especially unpleasant.

While we understand and sympathize to the stressors of reopening, on behalf of my group and I who simply wanted to live life normally again tonight, we would appreciate that stress is not taken out on paying customers.
