Staff and Service was marked lower. When I booked, I had called the hotel directly, but was forwarded to you central customer service where I was quoted one price on the phone exclusive of all taxes, or I at least I understood that to be the case. When I got to the hotel I was charged another $8 approximately for the base price before taxes. I was told by the desk clerk that, " oh, the quote by the central customer service, was only an estimate" and that the price varies pending the location" WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS PRACTICE IS THAT When I ask to be quoted a prices I expect a firm quote exclusive of taxes as that is always extra. I have been doing business on the road for over 30 years and have never been quote an estimate for a hotel before. The desk clerk pooh -poohed my concern as " how could I expect the central customer service to know how to charge for all the locations in North America?" That is just about the most ridiculous excuse in todays economy with the widespread of detailed electronic data. She also said that the quote is always within just a couple of dollars, or just a few. I do not consider $8.00 difference as frivolous.

Your desk clerk did a poor job of explaining this in a manner that was tolerable to the customer and appeared frustrated that I should raise this let alone not buy here explanation. If this is your practice then I would suggest some additional help to your staff to know how best to deal with the feedback. Am I the only one that has ever raised this issue????? When I returned through the Sault Ste Marie 2 weeks later I book with a competitor as they quoted the precise price I would pay exclusive of taxes. Note also that your competitor quoted a Canadian call in Canadian $s not American Dollars!!! for a reservation.

Also I have just finished reading your Wiring Guidelines. You asked for feedback! why is "refrain from referencing the specific cost of your stay" in that list. I take exception to that guideline, what is it you are trying to hide here...

My husband and I met Nick the Manager everal years ago. We had stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in Toronto and were taking the airport shuttle to the terminal. We were going to pick up our grandson who was flying in from Amsterdam! I told Nick that I already had a room booked at his hotel in a month, as I would be returning with my grandson as he flew back home.

The next month, when I checked into the Holiday Inn Express at 2:30am, I was greeted by a desk clerk who came outside to assist me in finding a place to park, as the hotel lot was very full!

My room was lovely, however, I couldn’t really appreciate it as the trip had left me very tired. I told Nick the next morning that I would be back with my husband as everything about his hotel was

We have gone back several times, always requesting the Suite! It is So Lovely. A Double Fireplace which serves both the living area and the bedroom

The large kitchen area and table (Great for Card Playing too) and a Beautiful Relaxing living room area with a sofa and two chairs.

This time was no different, expect I had called Nick and asked if he could set up a little surprise for my husband, as this stay was to celebrate our 39TH Anniversary. When we entered the suite, my surprise was ready! A Beautiful Relaxing Suite was waiting for us! Noah the desk clerk, reminded us of the name of the restaurant we wanted to go to for our Anniversary dinner, just a block away from the hotel, and they give a discount when you show them your room key!
