Run down and noisy. A group of us stayed for one night, with two rooms in total. One of the rooms wasn’t ready at check in time (3pm) which was annoying but not a huge deal. The room that was ready, was in awful condition - dated, worn furniture, squeaky beds, loads of scuffs and marks everywhere, and this embarrassing chair… why bother even supplying a chair if it looks like this? Later that evening, we checked in to the second room and found the fridge was broken, with a wet towel inside and soaking wet carpet surrounding it. Front desk didn’t mention this, it would have been nice to have a warning or apologies for it. But it gets worse… at 7am there was a shirtless child running through the hallway screaming, screeching and slamming doors. Not the hotels fault but the way they didn’t really deal with it was annoying. We called the front desk to let them know and they said they would check it out. Cut to 15 mins later and the kid is still making a racket, so we called again and this time the front desk claimed to have not heard anything. A lady from the front desk reluctantly offered to help after we pushed back, but we heard this annoying noise for the rest of the morning until the family left. There was no hot water at 7am either, but this seemed to have fixed itself later in the morning. We’ve stayed at 8 different hotels in Western Canada in the last two weeks, many of them Marriott properties, and this is by far the worst… all of the basics are just so poorly executed. A hotel where you can’t sleep, shower, chill your drinks or sit on a chair without feeling like it might give you an infection.

We stay at this Four Points every time we're in Edmonton for our frequent business or personal trips. It's an older hotel in an industrial area, but close to most services and major routes in the city. While the rooms are a bit outdated and could use some upgrades, they are still clean and comfortable. The furniture shows some signs of wear and tear but serves its purpose. I appreciate the large desk and ample lighting in the rooms. Overall, the rooms suit our need for short, frequent, business trips quite well, for a very reasonable price. The service is also second to none and keeps us coming back. It is also a pet friendly hotel! The hotel offers a hot buffet breakfast in the lounge area, which is basic but quite good for a quick bite. Depending on the room rate you book, you may also receive a complimentary buffet pass. There is a small 24-hour fitness room and pool, which are very convenient. The Duke of Argyll pub is always a favourite - very friendly and inviting, with lots of seating, a pool table, darta and VLTs. It offers your typical pub fare, with outstanding service. Our standbys are the burgers, wings and nachos. The burgers are incredibly thick, juicy and very satisfying. Theh come on a poppyseed bun with delicious burger sauce, cheese, sauteed mushrooms and onions and fresh lettuce & tomato. The salad is always crispy and fresh with an italian-style vinaigrette and candied pecans. The wings are incredibly fresh, juicy and oh-so-crispy.. Always amazing with a cold beer after a long trip on the road. Great budget hotel option!

**TRAVELER BEWARE** Although this hotel is affiliated with the Four Points chain, it is a cheap imitation. Spending over 50 nights per year in a hotel, and almost all of them last year at an SPG Four Points hotel, I have never felt uncomfortable or unsafe until my stay here. The first of 3 nights here a drunk ran through the hotel and pulled the fire alarm at 1:15am. Thinking that it was a fluke, my stay there continued. Unfortunately the morning of checkout revealed what this hotel was made of when we came out to our vehicle to find it broken into. It was then we found out that the sign in the parking lot claiming to have video surveillance was a hoax because there are NO CAMERAS! In addition, although the COO had considered hiring night security for the parking lot, this idea became as real as the imaginary cameras. To top it off, management doesn't care about your safety or comfort, neither will they help you when, not if, you fall victim to criminal acts on their property. The manager told me that he knows that there is a problem with vehicles being broken into in the parking lot but the hotels owner refuses to spend any money making the lot secure. DO NOT STAY HERE! FYI, Holiday Inn Express on Gateway Boulevard has both cameras and lot security and the rooms are larger and much nicer.

We had to leave our condo while workman came for two days. I am a Marriott Gold member and used points to secure the rooms. This was the lowest point hotel in Edmonton for me and, given it wasn't a holiday I decided to try it out.

To begin, upon entering the hotel I was greeted by a professional looking, front-desk employee, Amanda who answered all my questions and was very impressive - I was made to feel like my business was important to them as was I personally! not always the case.

We decided to try the pub located onsite as the restaurant is temporarily closed for renos. All I can say is this pub is a hidden treasure. Our server, Emily was quick, responsive, knowledgeable, and professional while being personable. Our food was delivered quickly and, I have to say the cook who prepared it, Allison did an amazing job with everything and, in particular my fish and chips. This year my husband and I have been in Victoria, Halifax and a Michelin star restaurant in Los Angeles and I tried the fish and chips in each location. To my delight, this pub served me the best fish and chips I have had in years!! There is a breakfast buffet for those who want it from 6 am to 10 am. Very convenient and worth the $10.00 they charge.

Although the decor is dated and the ambiance is not what you would call family or romantic, it is clean, and comfortable. There is a partition between the tables and the bar and slot machines. Not sure if kids are allowed.

I am a wheelchair user and usually have trouble pulling in under tables in restaurants. The tables with the square bottom pedestals was easy for me to roll up on (1/4" high) and I could sit right up to the table. Nice change - no more spilling food on my lap. The accessible room we have is a king bed with roll-in shower that has a bath stool. the sink is easy to roll under and access the lever tap. The toilet has the "L" bar that makes it safe to transfer - note there is not room beside the toilet so a front transfer is necessary. There is even a bathroom heater you can select 15 mins to 60 mins. This is great for anyone is gets chilled easily.

The room has carpet in all but the entry and bathroom but easy to roll around with plenty of space and a large desk with convenient plugins.

The pub and the breakfast area are wheelchair accessible as will be the restaurant as it is on the main level.

All in all, a fine place with amazing staff and good food. We will be back and hopefully the East 76 Restaurant will live up to the rest...

Wow, Not in a good way. That is the only word I can come up with for this stay, My husband and I show up at the hotel and even as a gold preferred guest we are put on the first floor. This was not the end of the world until we tried to get to our room and had to climb 5 steps to get to our room. We had a full cart of luggage 4pcs plus several smaller bags as well as a baby in a stroller. Nobody at the front desk could even be bothered to tell me that while I stood there with my luggage waiting for my husband to park the truck. We then had to get to the end of the hallway with all our stuff just to reach the most dated room we have ever stayed in with an SPG property. Then we have to look forword to hauling all our stuff back out with no luggage cart. The bathroom was so small we had to stand over the toilet to close the door. The bathroom was in horrible shape chips on all surfaces. The countertop looks like it may have been reused out of a crack house, No door to seperate the bedroom as well as it was open above, Might as well have been a studio suite. Just to top our night off the bed squeaked everytime we moved in it. Our cups in the bathroom had been opened by someone. Leaving question as to how sanitary they were. One coffee in the room. The price for this room was also way too high for the quality. We often have rooms for $20 more a night that blow this one away . In size and ammenities. I can not believe that this is a category 3 hotel. That is an insult to other category 3 SPG properties. Lucky if it makes a category 2 should be a 1. When we brought up our concerns to the front desk staff we were just given a sorry and don't let the door hit you on the way out. Even though we checked out a night early this did not seem to matter. We will never be back to this property. Also one of only 3 properties not to participate in the better by the nights program in Canada. Wish we had known that before we booked, Seems like they want the benifits of being a SPG property without having to give the benefits to members. Spend your money elsewhere if you want...

After some years of not staying at this hotel I decided to give it a second chance since I was doing some business close in that area of Edmonton. In some aspects I was surprised about the changes that were done at the hotel, but in many others there is still a chance to improve. The pros: The rooms have been refurbished in their interiors to a more updated furniture and décor, more at the standard of newer Four Points hotels. Common areas such as lobby, meeting rooms, restaurants and health club are kept in spotless conditions. The Duke of Argyll Pub offered a good menu, tasty drinks with a friendly atmosphere that included live music. Thumbs up for it. I really appreciate the upgrade received on my room, It really made a difference in comfort since my partner was watching T.V. in the living room and I was sleeping. Areas of improvement: Steam Room and Sauna were both out of operation (a disappointment) The business center located at the 5th floor is just a sign that hasn't been removed yet. Some décor and carpets in the hallways and main areas are showing their age and they contrast with the new furniture and improvements done around the hotel. The morning Coffee service was unattended and therefore supplies run out fast without being replenished (on both mornings we have to ask at the restaurant for a cup of coffee). And the one that needs more attention is the training of the front desk staff. The were not paying enough attention to details in the reservation such as special fares, SPG level benefits, and proper procedures to close the guest folios in order to get the starpoints and stay credits added to the account. This hotel has a good location, but I hope they keep in mind that there are two more newer Four Points not so far from them, as well as two more coming up in...
