Pagolac Restaurant — Restaurant in Edmonton

I hate to have to write this review because Pagolac has been our go to restaurant whenever we crave pho.

Recently, we have been to the place and I dont know, maybe management has changed, but it is not the same. The restaurant had fruit flies flying everywhere and on the table.

The washroom reeks, mind you there was a sign saying one of the stalls were broken so that maybe the source of the smell.

Ambiance is dead and the place is empty. Service is really poor as the server prefers customers to wait and not fair.

Food item #1. Beef Stew Pho: This has been my partner's ultimate order since the beginning. It came cold and over done. Noodles were breaking apart and can not even be picked up by chopsticks. Soup was very very bland.

Food item #2: Grilled Porkchop with Egg on Rice This has been my go to and now it is tasteless. Pork is over grilled. Even their rice tastes different. Rice was very loose. It just kept scattering. Overall, it was not tastefull.

Food Item #3: Grilled Chicken with Spring Rolls on Rice Food never came and we think it may have been forgotten by the server. When followed up, we were told it was coming. What came was almost like a ginger beef but chicken. It was burnt (maybe from being rushed?). We could'nt eat it as it was very very hard. We did not touch it and it was stricken off the bill. Very disappointing.

Food item #4: Onion cake This was delicious! It did not come with the sauce and we had to ask for it. But the taste...

I'm sure the food here is good, but I won't be finding out for myself. I ordered medium beef soup (Skipthedishes delivered) and it arrived completely raw and without utensils. I VERY eat often at Vietnamese restaurants and I have never had a problem with identifying raw items on the menu before. Rare means raw, medium means partially cooked, well done means completely cooked. I would ordinarily order rare beef but we were staying in a hotel (which I clearly stated on the order) with no way to heat up the soup, so I deliberately selected the medium option. When the food arrived there were no utensils included (also a problem because we are in a hotel). I called to follow up and explain that we would not be able to eat the food we paid for, and the person working would not do anything to help us. They explained that they have been serving the soup for 20 years and thats just that way it is. Nothing they can do. People heat it up at home. Disappointing lack of empathy for our situation. I really liked this place a lot and they do have great food but when they closed the other 2 locations, this location has become cheap and rude. The portions are never the same on a day to day basis and now they don’t even serve a full meatball, they only serve half of one and these meatballs are so small what does that save then in cost in only giving a customer half.. maybe 10 cents and yet they still charged the same for the meal when they gave you a full meatball. They should never cut the meal item and charge the same.. rather continue serving what they have always served for that dish and raise the price of that dish instead.. It’s like going to Macdonald's ordering a Big Mac paying full price for that Big Mac and you only get half a burger.. It’s a shame and I’m thinking of not going here anymore cause I’m annoyed and...
