Loved the only Hostel. The place is really well kept. The atmosphere is great and tbe staff are friendly and more importantly really cool. It felt like hanging out rather than stying in a hotel. The breakfasts were amazing too. Get down early though, sometimes there's muffins and pastries but they go fast. I think I ate the most I have my entire trip there, and iv been traveling for two months . The bar and cafe attached means you don't have to look for a good place to spend the day because your already in one. Seriously next time I visit Toronto I might just spend my time there relaxing and recuperating now iv seen the sights. Greek town is cool as well. Loads of coffee shops and life in the place. The underground/bus station is right behind the hostel to get to town and there's good jazz, rock.and hip-hop bars/clubs near by. There are some good beaches there too and during the sumer they have music and a real party atmosphere. Go here, love here.

The Only Backpacker's Inn is a wonderfully vibrant and welcoming hostel that's surprisingly inexpensive. Staff are friendly and eager to assist, the lower floor serves great coffee, and a free light breakfast is provided from 8-10am every morning. The location is practically perfect, being situated just around the corner from a metro station that will get you to old Toronto in about fifteen minutes, and the wealth of multicultural restaurants on Danforth Avenue mean you'll never struggle for food plans. The rooms are a little cramped, and the overhead light in mine was too dim to see much, but they're cleaned every day and for the price there's really nothing to complain about.

The Only Backpacker’s Inn is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed. The room rates contain a free breakfast every morning from 8am to 10am in the hostel kitchen. There are pastries, toasts, spreads, fruits, cereals, milk, coffee and tea. It’s also a good time to meet with other hostel guests during breakfast. There is a huge cafe and a bar downstairs ( as the rooms are upstairs) where you can meet local people or just chill and have a drink/read/relax. There are many people coming here with a laptop and just sit in the cafe the whole day. It’s a very popular place for the locals. I really enjoyed my stays here and I will definitely stay here again whenever I am in Toronto!

Overall a good hostel. Well equipped, well located and clean but quite overpriced.

As for the staff, they are on the whole helpful, but our experience is still marred by a mishap with a person in charge of cleaning the premises that we must report so that in the future this kind of abuse does not happen anymore.

Inadvertently, we had the misfortune to leave a toiletry bag one evening in a bathroom. The next morning we looked for it without success. We asked the cleaner if he hadn't seen it right after he went to the bathroom. He had seen nothing. So we went to ask the responsible staff if anything had been found. We were kindly assured that a message would be passed to the cleaners and that if the object was found it would be placed in our room.

So this morning we return to the cleaner to find out if he has seen anything since. The gentleman now remembers that he found our kit but threw it away🧚... Why?! It remains an unfathomable mystery. In the common areas there is a box provided to accommodate found objects and during the day I went back to check if someone had left the kit there.

Highlight of the show, the guy brings us back the empty kit with a smirk. He tells us that people used it during the day or supposedly it was supposed to be in the lost and found box🤸🤸🤸. After a few stormy Latin exchanges, he took our keys on the table like a thief and left with it, threatening to call the police and throw away all the objects we left behind... freaky. The manager finally came to apologize and kindly returned our deposits.

In conclusion, I hope that in the future people will not see their personal belongings thrown away for the sole purpose of causing harm and that measures will be taken to ensure that this type of unacceptable behavior does not happen again, according to the reviews it's not the first time.

This was unfortunately our only bad social experience in Canada...

In the rooms, the beds are pretty standard but rather comfy with you sinking into the mattress and not feeling the bedsprings under you like many hostels. Inside the rooms, there isn’t a huge amount to complain about other than the space and the lack of sidebars for the top bunks. There are some rooms with a great amount of space in them but there are also some where you feel packed in like you’re on a Japanese Bullet Train at rush hour, it’s just the luck of the draw. In every room, there isn’t a safety bar alongside the top bunk which gives you the burning fear that you’ll fall 6ft to your imminent death, or just a big boo-boo, even with you sinking into the mattress pretty deep.||||The hostel is rather small but not compacted where you’re suffocating over the lack of space. The largest space is the kitchen situated above the TV room but below the outdoor area. The kitchen is rather large with plenty of space to sit and eat your food whilst having plenty of room to cook your food. Everything about the kitchen is large in hostel size, including the fridge and food storage space. The TV room below is also rather intriguing with a creepy basement feel to it but not a Fritzl basement feel. It’s just rather dimly lit with some artwork and other bits and bobs packed away to the side along with what seems to be a heating system or something that seems very significant to the hostels’ livelihood. The basement TV room is genuinely the best if not one of the best things about this hostel. It’s perfect to watch the cable tv until 4 am but also perfect to chill out and do some work or watch Dora The Explorer on your laptop without people judging you too much. For full review check out the website in my bio (loser travels) and have a wee gander at this...

Not for solo travelers looking for a strong social scene or if you’re looking for organized activities. This is a hostel operated by the cafe/bar downstairs, and you can tell the cafe/bar is their number one priority. Don’t expect any organized activities to promote socializing between guests. In fact, you start to realize how reliant you are on a front desk (that doesn’t exist here) for advice for things to do, general help, tours to purchase, etc. Staff here veered between friendly and “just alive”. Lockers are very small, just enough to fit a laptop and valuables. Bedding was definitely old and my roommate complained of hair and bloodstains on her sheets. They charge you a $10 credit card deposit for your key, which they refund, but charged a $2 transaction fee for the refund. Weird in the little ways. My roommates checked out the lounge but complained it was small, TV didn’t work, and was dingy. It’s a somewhat affordable hostel in an expensive city. The proximity to the subway is the best thing going for it, but it’s an out of the way neighborhood. My roommates and I didn’t like that the showers looked into the guest only patio and the only thing separating it were window screens (so yes people outside can see into the shower room - great pressure though!). One night we found the door separating the downstairs bar patio open which would have allowed bar guests to enter the upstairs guest patio and look into/enter the showers. Definitely...
