If you are staying here I highly recommend the Gull’s nest room (see photos). It was stunning. Beautiful view of the water through the trees. Real rustic charm. The bathtub in the room was a treat and the shower water pressure is awesome. The house is nice and quiet. My travel mate and I enjoyed sitting outside at night on the Muskoka chairs and watch the sun set. It is truly beautiful and serene. The house is also very, very, very clean. Cathy also is equipped with anything you may have forgotten from bug spray to bandaids.
Now this is a bed and breakfast. I am not a big breakfast eater and I’m not a big fan of banked goods. I let Cathy know I was happy with a piece of toast and a glass of juice. Cathy finally caved and let me just eat toast, but she was so very accommodating and bought me two different types of bread so I had a selection. 😊. I did try Cathy’s olive oil and lemon loaf (keeping in mind I really don’t like the taste of lemon). OMG, it was beyond delicious and moist. Cathy just gave the loaf a “kiss” of lemon and it was divine. My friend really enjoyed Cathy’s food and homemade compote’s.
Lastly, if you are a dog lover you will absolutely fall in love with Murphy (chocolate lab). He is so friendly and loves his belly rubs. Definitely bring a few treats in your bag and you will have a best friend for life.
I can only give this property 5 stars, but I would rank it...
Read moreDuring my recent stay at this charming bed-and-breakfast in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional experience. From the moment I arrived, our host, Cathy was the epitome of warmth and hospitality. She went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable.. The rooms were kept beautifully in period style.. We were both at home and pampered at the same time. A standout feature of our stay was the full-service breakfast prepared by Cathy. We were treated to a delicious, home-cooked meal that left us full and satisfied, ready to explore the beautiful surroundings of Mahone Bay. But perhaps the most delightful aspect of our stay was the ample opportunity for good conversation. Cathy's knowledge of the area and her engaging stories added a personal touch that you simply don't find in larger hotels. It was these chats that made our stay feel uniquely personal and inviting.
Overall, my stay at this bed-and-breakfast in Mahone Bay was a remarkable experience. The combination of Cathy's hospitality, comfortable accommodations, delectable breakfast, and engaging conversations made this more than just a place to stay; it was a highlight of our trip to Nova Scotia. The house itself is from the 1850's and has character galore!
Cathy was extremely helpful in explaining the area and what there is to see, and made great recommendations for what to do.
She is a gracious host who cares deeply that her visitors are treated well. The hot breakfasts were amazing, and changed every day to provide variety.
The location could not have been better, located on the Bay between 2 of the 3 churches, known in many iconic and picturesque photos.
It is very easy to walk to downtown Mahone Bay, and visit the many neat boutique stores and restaurants.
The location is also great for making day trips to other sites in the area.
We can easily recommend Fisherman's Daughter as the place to stay...
