If you like dense crowded cities you'll love camping here for that feels like home experience. The good: Its close to Fort Langley for checking out the town. River has nice trails and you can play in the sand on the shore. Store is decently stocked and decent prices. Washrooms are well kept. The bad: It's a glorified trailer park. The large RV sites are nice looking with a decent patch of grass and shade. However if you're not fortunate to afford a RV and bring a lowly tent expect to be on top of your neighbours in the psudo holding area. No hot water in the dishes washing sink outside the bathrooms. No kids activities on the Sunday - it would be nice if they put the schedule online so you knew what was happening so you can plan accordingly. Parking - additional $10/day off your site. Again a rip off and penalizes familes with young children who need an additional vehicle. Meanwhile if the vehicle is towed in on a rv it can park on the site. The ugly: There is zero respect by other patrons for the tent sites in the middle. People walking and biking through your site all day and night. If you're placed across from the washrooms you'll enjoy the sound of every truck from the trailer sites pulling up starting at 6am to idle while they relieve themselves. The light from the staff building will beam through your tent like a searchlight all night, while the buzzing from whatever they have running will join in chorus with the trains every 20 minutes. Smoking - new neighbour rolled up with their camper and spent the entire time setting it up with a dart in their mouth, smoke wafting down the row of tents for the whole lane to breathe in. He continued to smoke in his camper with the windows open. Ultimately this was the straw that ended our "camping" trip early. The ridiculous: The money grab of having to pay an additional $25 on top of reservation fee to "lock in your site." If you don't, you'll be given any of the operators choosing when you arrive. So the nice once in the shade you picked out online? Yeah no they'll put you at the one in the middle by the bathroom in the blazing sun thats just sand, dirt and gravel while the other site sits empty the entire time you're there. More frustrating was every other site got to enjoy the luxury of shade all afternoon, while us - the family with young kids- baked and ended up leaving early. All in all, unless you're leisure park type campers, pick a different place.

Stayed here for 7 days, Aug 26th to Sept 2nd @ Campsite E4. Good spot, was a back-in. Lots of room for our 26.5ft trailer. Site was a little dusty but when you have rugs down....it's manageable. Had activities for kids Thursday- Sunday. Kids enjoyed that. Hay rides, bingo, bracelet making. Thought the playground was a little small. There is a huge area and some swings could be a good addition. General store wasn't open until late in the week, I think Thursday- Sunday. Fort Langley was a short walk over the bridge and is pretty cute. Local shop are cool. The river is right there and quite murky looking, although people were swimming in it. The sand at the beach is nice for the kids in the shade. There is a long trail around the campsite which is nice for walking or riding. 11pm hits and they're out shutting it down in full force. Campfire out, noise down. Didn't bother us any and kept everyone respectful for noise and neighbors. Couple things.....bring FIREWOOD (if there are no fire bans). It's seriously expensive and it burns super quick. Hook ups for sewer I found weird. The hookup was higher than your trailer. So, gravity works great from the trailer to the ground, but then has to work uphill, to the dump spot. To me, doesn't make sense. Took more to flush out and multiple times to "fill up" and dump, to get over that hump at the end. We found it super time consuming. There were a lot of dogs there but no dog park. As far as I found, no off-leash area at all. Not on the trails or at the site. That is a definite thing needed for sure. Off leash dog park. It was super hot the week we were there, which is good, but nothing there to "cool" ya off. A pool would be a great, GREAT option. River.....no thanks. Swim at your own risk there. You kinda feel confined to your trailer w/ AC cause it was boiling out. Kids lived at the park and for the most time, it was in the shade which was good. Not a ton of options for adults but we found ourselves playing Bingo and making bracelets with the kids. We will most likely be back next year, hopefully at the same time. Going to be prepared with wood though for sure.

Keep in mind this is an RV campsite... And despite tent campers being accepted, it may be a bit frustrating. The camp spots are designed for RVs and not tents.. I invited a friend and she with her daughter came in an additional car and stayed in our large tent... They told us to park overnight the "extra" car at the parking lot close to the check-in , and she found a note the next morning from the park ranger he couldn't lock the gate as overnight isn't allowed in that parking... Later on I found lots of parking spots like the one in front of the kids playground which is quite unused, so keep that in mind. There's a small shop on premises which is great, but I asked the lady if she knew where I could wash my dishes... She advised me to check the campground map, but don't mention anything about... Later on I found a dishwashing sink behind the shop, just beside the men's restroom.. tip #2.. Still about the shop, they have ice packs, and wood for fire pit at the park entry if you want to get it there. There are hot showers, but they're paid and require 2x loonies to work for 10 minutes. Cold water is free. There's a coin dispenser at the shop entry if you need to change paper money for coins. Tip #3 The river margin has signs of "unknown water condition" so we decided not to allow our kids to play. There are no pools on this RV site. Tip #4 This is an island, so while it's virtually difficult (not impossible) to receive bear visits at night, I saw some big and fat racoons doing their rounds at night. Lastly, despite paying for an extra adult and car, they don't allow 2 cars to be at the camping spot, so keep that in mind if you need to grab things from the cars or even lock your food into the car at night, you'll need to walk or keep moving your car back and forth. My kid was way too euphoric, so I took him for a car ride and he finally got asleep. But it was very annoying being poked multiple times by the park monitors about the 2nd car that had my kid inside sleeping... I hope these tips can help you. Enjoy

First time, our son was so exited to see the outdoor chess set, but was uncomfortable trying to finish game while being stared at by manager who wanted to put it away. Booked there again, for chess, but was dissappointed it was locked up. Walked into town, got a call from manager Maryellen saying a tree had fallen on our RV. Got back to find a huge branch right through our awning, to the trailer door. Scary to think what could've happened if we'd been there. We didn't complain, calmly showed insurance, & she said they'd pay the deductible. Huge hassle to tow the trailer to shop for estimate, wait many weeks for parts, then tow back for repair. FC made no attempt to compensate. Next visit, were again dissappointed we were not allowed to play chess. Upon check-in this time I asked (Sue?) if they'd had the trees inspected. She acted bewildered & said "what are you talking about?" so I told her what happened. She said "So what!!? Do you expect me to go and look at every single tree myself?!" in the rudest most sarcastic tone imaginable. My immediate thought was "No. Of course not. You are clearly not qualified. You need to hire a Certified Arborist to assess the trees." But her ignorance & attitude told me I'd be wasting my time, so I left the office & tried to enjoy the stay. It's astounding that she thinks it's ok to talk to paying guests this way, let alone a person just making a reasonable inquiry. Recently gave FC one last chance, mostly for hookup for AC, it was 32 deg. Checked-in, driving to site, a tree limb fell inches in front of our truck. 1 sec earlier it would've come through our windshield. What are the odds these were the only 2 times a tree has broken on their property and we were there? Waited for staff to remove tree from road & went to our site. Hooked up, turned on AC, but breaker flipped after 1 min. Tried many times, kept going off, so went to tell Maryellen. I asked if she remembered us, the ones who had a tree limb come through the awning. She denied recall of us, what happened, or the 9 subsequent emails between us. So either it happens so much here that she can't keep track, or her memory is impaired, or she's lying. Anyway, I just let that go, & explained the breaker issue. She kept interrupting me, but said she'd call maintenance. After dinner our son was excited to play chess, but again it was awkward with the store clerk standing there staring at us. He couldn't give them 10 min to finish their game? On leaving we went to buy some propane. The guy who came out told us we had to bring the tanks to other side, not the propane pump where we parked. Asked what price/litre was, said he didn't know, & made no effort to help carry full tanks back, just stood there. I asked what we owe him, he said "Um, I don't know, um, maybe about $30?" Understandably confused, I asked, "ok where or who do we pay then?" He said go to the store, where the clerk said $84.00! For 1.5 bbq size tanks of propane! I explained one of the tanks was 1/2 full & just topped off. She wouldn't say what their price/litre is, or even how many litres pumped, just said it's flat rate. Manager overheard & told her to just charge for full one, then turned to the guy who pumped it and scolded him publicly for filling a 1/2 full tank. While dealing with this I had two missed calls from Sue, wanting to make sure we were out of our site, & asking why she didn't get gate card back yet. I called her back & explained we WERE out of our site BEFORE 11am, & were trying to buy propane from THEIR store. We've been reasonable & forgiving, never losing tempers/raising voices. Time to publish honest review, as tree problem is a very serious safety issue. Hate to think what would've happened if one of those limbs weighing several hundred pounds had fallen on one of the many kids playing there. Staff brushed it off as no big deal, but this is a tragedy & law suit waiting to happen, & their liability waiver won't protect them as there is evidence of the hazard being known, reported, & still no action has been taken. We...

I stayed here in the winter and while the campsite itself is satisfactory, I took issue with their lack of safety procedures. At one point it was raining heavily and the river was rising with government warnings that it could breach. I went to the office to find out what safety procedures were in place and nobody had a clue. The campsite was 3/4 full…and it was already dark, and if the river breached at 3 in the morning there was no way for us to know unless we woke up all night to check. There was no system to account for people in an emergency, and there was no one assigned to go around to wake us up if the danger became imminent. As it turns out the river did breach on the north side and crept towards the camping area. This campsite is on a small island with one way to get off…a road level bridge that would possibly be below the water line if the river breached. I complained to an old woman named Mary Ellen who claimed to be the camp manager. She was unpleasant and uncooperative and refused to give me the contact information for upper management unless I put it in writing. So I had to go through this ridiculous waiting period after drafting a written request for her to give me the contact information in writing when she could have easily conveyed it in person. Clearly this was an exercise in control and was not in the best interest of our safety. When I finally reached the contact for the campsite I was told that she would not respond further but would handle it from there. To this day I have not been informed that a safety or evacuation procedure is in place.

Here is my problem, currently there has been flooding in Texas where over 100 people died and they are speculating that up to 500 are still missing. The Texas river flooded in the middle of the night, in rv parks and campsites. This was exactly the scenario that worried me when I went to the Fort Camping staff and they could have cared less. I am posting this review because the possibility that similar situation to the Texas river floods could unfold on this very small island with only one way off…except that in Canada the people also risk hypothermia in the water, making survival even worse than Texas. I would be the first one to offer my testimony in a liability trial if this happened. If you are planning to stay for the winter be very aware that the Fraser river does flood and the lower mainland has very heavy rainfall in the winter. They have both 100 year floods, and 500 year floods…we are due for both. And, if it does flood while you are there you are on your own in a vulnerable trailer, with no one notifying people of the danger. So for this reason I would not return to this campsite and for winter campers I would highly recommend that you seek other safer...
