Can't really say much good things about this place, although I was really looking forward to coming here
Pawn arrival. The welcome desk was very rude. Almost like our kind wasn't welcome here. Felt kind of racial. My wife and I being a different race. I felt like we were being sized up. We also had our children with us which also made them very timid to know that our children were in the lobby. They're 5& 3 years old. It's almost like they wanted them to sit right next to us and not on the chairs provided.
After a lengthy check-in we go up to our room which is the physically disabled room due to My husband's physical disability. We traveled from Windsor to Toronto to have a surgical intervention that was life-threatening for my husband who is going through an internal infection that could ultimately take his life.
Once we get into our bedroom we find some small things. No toilet paper, lack of towels. The toilet didn't stop running. It kept going and going and going. We waited over 3 hours for someone to come upstairs to address it. We tried to fix it ourselves but it just didn't stop as the bobber and the toilet was defective and had to be replaced ultimately.
We also noticed that there was two queen beds in our room. One of the queen beds was broken in half. It was like someone either extremely morbidly obese or someone jumped up and down on the bed a thousand times and cracked the box spring. When we told the front desk about it they said well we'll put you in one king room but that didn't help with two children and my husband and I and my husband needs an entire bedroom self knowing that he's having major leg reconstruction. When we approach this to the a very opinionated front desk they said there's nothing they could do to help. Maybe sleeping on the floor is a better option.
Obviously this wasn't very helpful in any way shape or form. Didn't find any alternative and knowing that it was a snowstorm we didn't find any other alternatives nearby, especially with less than 12 hours before his surgery.
We asked the front desk for additional blankets as the heat register wasn't working either. The hallway had an internal temperature of 45° which was freezing cold
Our bedroom we couldn't get the heat to work. We tried and tried and tried and try and tried to the point where we went downstairs and asked for blankets and they questioned why we wanted blankets. We told him the heat didn't work and they said have you tried pushing the buttons? Really really. Did we try pushing the buttons? Stupid
We weren't accommodated any other rooms other than one king bed for four people. Two adults one physically disabled into children.
We ultimately weren't giving any additional perks like an extra night stay or a future night stay. They did offer us to go into the hot tub which the Jets aren't working. And as a registered nurse I can tell you not having just running in a hot tub can ultimately cause bacteria and fungal diseases even with the presence of chlorine. That water needs to be filtrated through a filter, so that's what the jets are for. I could tell you this because we personally own a hydrotherapy hot tub for my husband's disability and there is a whole lot of maintenance behind it and ultimately if the water doesn't flow, it's just a giant cesspool bacteria. Unfortunately we didn't allow the kids to swim.
The restaurant, The bistro Nice fancy place But I don't know. But you I'm not paying $17 for a piece of toast with avocado on it. What a freaking joke and that's breakfast
Bother looking at the rest of the menu because I'm not paying $17 for one slice of toast with a little bit of avocado. It's not even the full avocado, it's just a piece of it
I'll be coming back. Reported this to better business bureau. Didn't find the value for the money that we paid to stay here given all the problems that...
Read moreMy husband and I had a lovely night here. The hotel is being renovated so one elevator and part of the main floor looked rough, but there was no noise or disturbance that we noticed. We booked a King bed room but they were overbooked so we were upgraded to a jacuzzi room which was really lovely, though I don't think we would have paid the extra charge for it as an option. The jacuzzi was a very comfortable size for two tall adults, and it filled quickly and had coloured lights and jets. The jets only had one speed though, which was so loud we could not hear the tv over it. But we just put on captions while the jets were on and it was fine. The tv is fairly large and is on a swiveling wall mount so you can see it from the tub/bed/chair. The bed was nice, though a bit too soft for our preference. The sheets and pillows were clean (slightly bleach scented which did not bother me but might bother others) and they had a textured kind of sheet for top layer rather than a bedspread, which looked nice, was soft to lie on, and seemed freshly washed. The overall cleanliness was very good, but not immaculate (there was an old cheesie on the floor by the bed, and a little bit of soap scum in the jacuzzi that I could feel but not see). The room and bathroom had no smell and was bright and well climate controlled (the ac was set quite cold when we came in but the controls were very easy and responsive and we easily got the room to a comfortable temperature for us). The jacuzzi is located in the corner of the main room, and the rest of the bathroom is off the entrance to the room. It is a bit of a bizarre configuration with the sink right off the entrance and then the toilet and shower behind a door by the sink. There was a mini fridge in the room which kept our food very cold. There was one very nice chair and footstool in the room, but if you are more than one person you'll have to sit on the bed to eat, watch tv, etc. There was a bistro, dining area, and little tuck shop type thing on the main floor but we did not use them. The location is great, we could drive in just a few minutes to multiple resturants, a mall, and a movie theatre (though walking would be harder as you have to cross the highway). We noticed another family appeared to be using the eating area in the hotel lobby to eat their take out food, so that may be an option for larger groups or those who don't want to eat on the bed. We only interacted with the staff to check in and out but that process was very quick and easy, and the staff member was polite. The hotel also has a pool and hot tub but we were satisfied with our jacuzzi so we didn't try those out. There is also a gym. Overall I would recommend this hotel and will probably visit it again next time we...
Read moreAbsolute worst customer experience I've ever dealt with, and I've been to many other Marriott Hotels as a gold star member.
We booked the Courtyard Vaughan for 2 nights from June 14-16 to stay in while we get married in town (originally from Ottawa).
After the ceremony we came back to the hotel and got changed quickly to an evening dress for a dinner restaurant. While we were away, I requested new towels and beds made while we were out for dinner.
WELL call me shook and upset to find out that while we were gone, one of the hotel staff members managed bump into the table (with wheels) and spilt some of the leftover champagne onto the wedding dress that was laid on the table. The champagne stained the dress pink and was still wet when I inspected it.
I immediately called the front desk about it, and because it was so late in the night (9pm), all of the supervisors and managers were gone for the day. They informed me that someone would be in the next day before I checked out around 9:30 AM.
...Next day. Went to the front desk to speak to the manager before checking out, only to be told that no one would be in until later in the afternoon. At this point, we had to leave to drive back home to Ottawa, but they rest assured me that someone would contact me when the manager gets in. Well, NO ONE contacted me the whole day, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and call them on June 17 to see if I can finally talk to the manager. Managed to speak to the front desk about my situation, and she rallied the information to the manager. As compensation they wanted to offer dry cleaning but we would have to bring the dress back to the hotel ...since they couldn't do it from Ottawa... which is a 5 hour drive for us. Told them that wasn't feasible and the only other thing they were able to do was offer a measly 5000 Marriott points for at least a couple of hundred dollars of damages to clean my wedding dress.
At this point, I STILL wasn't able to talk to the manager directly because they wouldn't pick up after being transferred, and eventually, the front desk refused to pick up my calls as well.
Absolutely disgusted by the lack of customer service provided here.
If you're looking for a hotel that refuses to help you during urgent needs, stay at the Courtyard Vaughan!
The only good thing I got from this was it happened AFTER the wedding. Imagine having your wedding dress ruined before your big day. So...
