Update: After submitting my initial review, I was contacted by management and offered a free night and dinner for my family. They gave me one of their best rooms and had clearly prepped the staff who went out of their way to provide great service. Some of the maintenance issues were being addressed. The pool filtering system is still severely lacking. If I were to base me review on the free night it would be 4 stars for the upgraded room, 2 stars for the facilities, (except pool cleanliness would get 1 star) 4.5 stars for the service, and 2 stars for the food at the buffet dinner. Overall 3 stars for the free night. Original review Recommended? Absolutely NOT! The good - the staff were all friendly during my stay. And the room was mostly clean on arrival. The rest- they don’t respect the Do not disturb” sign and overall the hotel has “bandaide maintenance” at best. Here’s a small portion of the many issues… - Rather noisy hotel. I don’t think the other patrons were louder than normal. But there’s no soundproofing between the room and the hallway. - Needed new keys to my room 4 times in a day plus it didn’t work for the pool 5 times in two days - Bathroom door knob loose - Closet knob loose - Leaking bathtub tap - Toilet not bolted down properly so it rocks. - Ceiling tile in part of the hotel in desperate need of replacement - Wall paper peeling in places - Wood panels on wall falling apart in places - Various rusted areas painted over rather than being fixed. (Mostly in the pool) - One elevator broke down once. The other one twice - 4 of 5 pieces of equipment in the gym needed repairs - Parking lot had tons of snow build up from not being cleared properly for a long time. And the sidewalk was even worse. Sidewalk was cleared on my third day but that appeared to be the first time in weeks or months. - And the list goes on. Interestingly, while the hotel isn’t maintained. The conference center appears to be better. Is the possibly where the main revenue comes from? The two biggest issues for me. 1. One of my two keys worked initially. Got the bad one fixed and then both stopped working within minutes. Both were replaced and worked for a couple hours before needing to be reprogrammed. The next day they replaced our lock as part of a hotel-wide lock exchange. This was done while I was out. They ignored the “Do not disturb” sign on the door and threw it in the floor together with bunch of sawdust, wood chunks and other garbage. Didn’t clean up their mess till I complained. Also, they had been working on other doors in the previous days but didn’t bother to schedule locks to be done on rooms that were unoccupied. Had to get my key card replaced yet again. Besides the hassle of being locked out of my room yet again, ignoring the do not disturb sign is in my books an invasion of privacy. 2. Pool got a bunch of extra chemicals and had to be drained and refilled, then they had other issues during refilling and ultimately shut it down for my first afternoon and evening. The pool and water slide were the reason I had booked this hotel rather than a different hotel. When the pool was open, there were endless pieces of fuzz and hair floating in the water. Even first thing in the morning. The filtering system wasn’t working and they didn’t manually clean the water surface overnight. To say I’m extremely disappointed with this hotel would be a significant understatement. I have stayed in many hotels over many years and there’s one other time I’ve complained to management. It take a LOT to bring me that far, but I finally did it here. The response was “I’m sorry”. Well I’m sorry too. But sometimes that’s just not enough. The only thing that would soften my view of this place is a refund. So far, nothing received. I’ll update this review if one is. But at best, I expect the standard response claiming that they take feedback seriously and are addressing the concerns. Let a see if I get a better response. Hopefully me sharing my experience will save someone else from having the same experience.

I could not have picked a better place to celebrate such an important day. My girlfriend has had bad past birthdays and she told me she’s never really enjoyed her birthday. So I wanted to go to a hotel with a water slide and restaurants. I also wanted to decorate the room before actually checking in. I was worried if I’d be able to do this. They made me feel comfortable choosing them and saying it would be okay to do this. I went to the hotel to find out they upgraded my room to an executive fireplace suite room and I was confused if I heard them right but I did! Iryna helped me and had such big smiles and helped me check in early. Then when I came back there with my girlfriend they pretended like they didn’t know me to go along with the surprise!! It surprised my girlfriend and she felt so special, had a wonderful time and loved the massive water slide and amazing room. I could not have picked a better place for such a special occasion and I certainly will be coming back to Canada Inns polo park! Thank you so much for this wonderful experience. I was blown away by the smiling happy staff.

It is a nice place to stay. I am glad security is here to stop people who are not guests from just hanging around the entrances. The room is a little dusty, the pool is not open due to COVID, and there are glow sticks stuck in the ceiling above the bed in room 207. Other hotels have their pools open, so I am not sure why this hotel has decided to close the pool area. The staff is very friendly, and I do mean all the staff from security, and front desk to housekeeping. I will stay here again. I still gave four stars because it was a comfortable room and I had a great nights sleep, but I am extremely picky when it comes to dust and air conditioner covers and vents in bathrooms. I look at the details of cleaning, and what has been neglected. The tables and dresser were not dusty; the walls were dusty. There was quite a bit of hair on the bathroom walls, which mean they were wiped but possibly not with a clean cloth.

DO NOT STAY HERE! * note this is a very long review but please read it, I recommend NOT taking or going here with any kind of friend, or family member if you truly care about honest employees and customer service*

So im going to start off by saying me and my boyfriend rented a 200$ Jacuzzi suite for 1 night as we were celebrating our anniversary. So when we arrived at the hotel to check in, i got my auntie to come in with us as my bf and i got our I.Ds stolen and we knew we needed someones valid I.D to be able to stay there.

So my auntie came in with us and she gave the front desk all her info. Then they proceeded with asking me for a creditcard to hold for a 100$ deposit, i told the lady i dont have one and neither does my auntie or bf, we only use Visa debits, she started saying they dont accept debit only creditcards meanwhile when i called in to book the suite 3 weeks ago i gave the lady my debit card info over the phone..? So then she said shell authorize it this one time but i needed to put down a 200$ deposit instead of 100 and ill get it at checkout.

My auntie then left and me and my bf went up to our suite(which smelt a little stale at first) We ran the water for the Jacuzzi & realized the plug wouldnt shut so our water kept draining, also one of the lamps wouldnt turn on & for the A.C to work we had to press down the button on the remote 10 times so it would work, but we didnt complain because we didnt want to keep getting interrupted with Guest Svcs coming in and out so we just left it and continued on with our evening. And pls note: yes we were planning on having a few drinks that night.

So morning came and we checked out at the front desk. My auntie came back to pick us up because they needed her I.D to retrieve my 200$ deposit back. So were waiting & all of a sudden I get told i cant get my 200$ back because there was cigarette butts found in my suite?? So i told them there must be a misunderstanding as I nor does my bf smoke, so i asked to go up to the suite to see these cig butts they so called "found" and of course the lady happens to be holding it in her hands and before I could even comment on anything the lady who escorted us upstairs immediately took a bunch of photos as if what was about to come out of my mouth was lies because now she has "physical evidence". I was so confused as to what they were trying to prove. My bf and i both dont smoke nor did we have any visitors over that night as they were trying to assume. - the lady who "found the smoke" then proceeded to say " Im a smoker and when I walked in it smelt like smoke" then that got me thinking that they purposely placed it there thats why the lady was in such a rush in taking photos for "proof"

They then made a very rude & offensive comment to me when they saw some of the empty cans in the bin(from last night) saying "you must have some personal issues, you can leave now" So having some drinks at a hotel for celebrating an anniversary now makes us alcoholics? Im upset at the things these crooked employees would do for money. Its embarrassing too since this is MY 1st time having my own actual suite here and getting treated like complete garbage. I proceeded to try & talk to a manager to try and resolve this and they wouldnt even look at me when telling me "no you can leave now" PLEASE NEVER STAY HERE NO MATTER HOW DESPERATE YOU ARE, there are dozens of hotels closer and more convenient for you. I PROMISE! Now im down $200 from these scammers and on top of that got the most horrible...

Stayed here last night to have a nice get away from being cooped up all Covid. The amenities were nice. Had a Hottub and swim was great. We then went for supper. What a mistake!

Do not eat here! Poorly managed and racist. Ethnics not welcome. I am Aboriginal from east coast New Brunswick. Sat with girlfriend for 30 minutes waiting for a waiter at the buffet. There were four or five waiters bussing tables and cleaning. No-one approached us. We could see the manager in the office staring us down. So I asked the chef at the buffet if I could get something to eat as we were hungry. He said yes. So I went and got some soup. Being a gentleman I brought her a bowl and myself a bowl. She wanted to wait for drinks before accessing the buffet. So I went and made a plate. When I returned none of the 4-5 servers had still not come yet. So we waited some more. She saw my broccoli and said it looked deliscious I said go ahead and eat it. She had one bite and the manager ran to our able accusing us of stealing. I argued with him and he said he was gonna go to his office and review the security cameras to charge us. I have money, I’ve ran restaurants in Montreal and Iqaluit Nunavut: I’ve never seen or been treated this poorly before nationally or internationally in any restaurant. I currently run a successful business here in Winnipeg where the aboriginal population is large. All I can conclude is that because of the social problems here in winnipeg the presence of a bar. In the hotel and alcohol vendor on site the manager assumed we were just some drunk Indians trying to steal food before even being asked if we’d like a drink or menu. I eventually called him a goof for his assumptions, where his response was to start attacking my character and degrade me verbally. He then turned bright red and looked as though he wanted to fight me over a piece of broccoli 🥦 and his lack of employee management skills. He then proceeded to have us almost physically removed by security! In front of everyone. How embarrassing. Please help make a difference in equality and co-existing relations on aboriginal territory. Do not support this establishment.

At the 2 in the morning we were still so upset we could not sleep. We decided to return home and never stay at a place that’s so racist again. Basically our romantic night out turned into a night of trauma. The security guards were present then that tried to escort us away. I apologized for the scenario and they said they understand they deal with the racism there on a daily basis which must be hard as they are of East Indian descent. Then we left. Upon leaving I was even accosted by alcoholics in the parking lot on exit for change. I gave them my change and when I refused to hang out with them more they tried to enter my vehicle. They said they were staying in the hotel as part of Manitoba corrections as part of a half way house program. Unbelievable not really a safe place for your family or a...
