Actually, the lunch special was great price, great quality and the service was fine until we brought up a small discrepancy with the bill. The only issue that we brought up with both the server and the person at the till was handled very poorly. Customer service is definitely not a concern of theirs. This could have been easily resolved, but it became principle after the fact that makes me need to share my experience. It all came down to the price on the menu vs the price on our bill. This might seem petty but it clearly states on the menu that the price of the Sapporo beer is 5.50. We were charged 6.50 per beer for the 4 beers ordered. We pointed it out to the server and she said " that's because it is a can and not a bottle". We figured ok and looked at the menu attached which clearly stated 5.50 for the Sapporo beer with no indication of can vs bottle or the choice thereof. Upon paying at the front counter, we brought it to another person's attention and were told the same thing. I stated while showing her their menu, that it clearly states 5.50 for a Sapporo beer and does not indicate bottle or can. She said " oh, they just changed that". I said, " well the menu does not reflect your price changes and you should really honor what you advertise". She said, " that's just the way it is". Unbelievable! The 60 dollar bill went through at 60 without a tip needless to say. How short sighted people in the service...
Read moreAs usual, the food was good. However this was our first visit post-pandemic and there were a number of things that have changed, and not for the better. The 1st thing we noticed was that in the past you were given a proper ceramic dipping bowl for soya... And that has been replace by a clear plastic takeout cup. This was unpleasant and, quite frankly when I go into a restaurant expecting to spend $40+ per person, i do not expect to be eating from a plastic cup. Secondly, we were given cheap wooden disposable chopsticks. Also unacceptable. In the past you were given nice aluminum chopsticks. Had I known it had devolved to status of cheap takeout joint, I could have brought my own proper chopsticks. Third thing... Tea. In the past you would get a ceramic pot of tea suitable for 2. This time, a cup and a cheap metal teapot for one. These 3 things set the tone for the experience.... Tired and cheap, like a place on its last legs about to die. The servers were not friendly at all. They were slow. Our food came out backwards [main course, then only after being told we had not received it... Our salads and tempura]. Overall this was by far the worst experience we have had at Sushi Cushi, and we have been many times. It seems its time to start frequenting...
Read moreMy husband and I have been going to Sushi Cushi together for nearly a decade and it's our favourite restaurant, and definitely the restaurant we go to the most.
Food is always great, good service and friendly waitresses, and they have NEVER been sold out of an item for us. The service consistency is remarkable, we always know what to expect when we come.
The wait for sit down or pick up is sometimes a little long, particularly on Friday nights but it's always worth the wait, we just plan ahead if we can. They have obviously earned the business they're getting, and we would book days ahead if we had to!
One of the main reasons we picked Sushi Cushi over every other sushi restaurant is that the vegan, vegetarian, and gluten friendly options are clearly labeled. It feels so much nicer to not have to ask.
Sushi Cushi has also been engrained in our relationship from the very start. The first time I messaged with my husband on Bumble he just happened to be getting sushi here with his parents, so it certainly holds a special place in our hearts.
Thank you for being such a significant part of our lives. You're...
