edit -The managers response to my review is completely pointless. My husband had told her that if she could not give proper accomodations to solve the problem of our stay we would be posting reviews so others know how terrible the stay was!-
original review My now husband and I stayed here from February 19-February 21. We were there for our wedding. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we have had. To start off, when my then fiance checked in he was never told that we had to order our breakfast the day before and that it would be $8.00 for breakfast in a bag that maybe cost them $3.00 to make.
We paid extra for a fireplace that you could hardly see the fire unless you were sitting on their uncomfortable couch. You could only feel heat from it if you were standing right in front of it and when you had it on it was attached to a timer that ticks just like a jacuzzi timer!
We were told the room was recently renovated but the caulking in the bathroom looked terrible and the shower leaked all over the bathroom if you didn't put a towel at the base of it before you turned the water on. We chose not to get a jacuzzi suite because I am pregnant and it is unsafe to be in a jacuzzi during pregnancy. We figured there would be a bathtub in the room to take a bath but unfortunately it was just the standing shower that leaked everywhere.
The fridge in the room made a buzzing noise that made it really hard to sleep and on top of that the bed was so uncomfortable. Between the two nights that we stayed there I got about 7 hours of sleep because of how uncomfortable the room was. We tried to solve this problem before making it public by letting them know our problems during our stay. Their solution was 1 free night in a similar room that we could use any time for up to a year of our reservation. We figured this wasn't a fair solution because of all the problems we had. Instead we asked 1 free night in a jacuzzi suite (reminder we stayed for 2 nights that were bad for our WEDDING!) They responded saying that if we wanted that we couldn't use it on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night because "they are always booked up". There is no way I wouldn't be able to go to an evening in December 2021 and get an available room on a weekend. We are not about to take time off of work and lose money that way to get a free room in a hotel that was terrible.
We were going to have our wedding block here (when we can have our wedding reception in the future) but there is no way I am going to make my guests stay at a hotel like this! We will not be using our free night and we will never be...
Read morewell I wish I could have given this stay high marks, but there were some concerns. First off, I had asked the lady at check in why my stay was so much more on the Monday, compared to my weekend cost. She explained that had I booked the day before that they were full, and that would be the rate. She made no bones to check online. So I went over to the computer in the lobby and checked myself. Showed there was 4 rooms still available. The young gentleman did explain that had I prepaid my room then I would have received that rate. I stated this should have been explained on the phone at the time of booking, but he did adjust my room rate. I had to have the front desk bring up new pillows and to clean the window sill. One pillow was extremely wrinkled and had stains on it. The young lady at the main desk brought up four new pillows, but I only exchanged two. the window sill, either wasn't' very clean or there was some film on the area. (I did notice that the computers in the lobby had a film over there screen, so maybe its something that you clean with, that is leaving that all over) Later on I noticed that the toilet paper roll, had barely enough paper for 1 use. Normally there is enough paper, and its folded into a nice "V" shape. I did notice that the elevator really needs to have that rug removed. It looked very disgusting and the one nite there was a toothpick and later the next day it was still there. so that goes to show, it doesn't get cleaned at night time., I did speak with one of the managers, to actually commend Tracy for actually changing the toilet paper, it showed me that someone actually took pride in their job and did something before even being asked. Maybe I'm being too critical but I often stay at the Springhills suites in Midland Michigan, and you could eat off the floors and there elevator has tile in it. so it never looks dirty.. Its my favorite place to stay. Also the meal that is included in your room, should have a set dollar amount, especially if you are a single person. I wanted a specialty coffee, but couldn't get that in my stay. But had I had another person in my room they could have had another meal? So I don't understand the cost would have been way more, that just having that latte. The second day of my breakfast took a very long time and the meal was barely warm, toast had been sitting, because the butter wouldn't even melt on it. There was only 6 people in the restaurant that morning...
Read moreMy fiancee (now Wife) and I had our small outdoor wedding in Kitchener and we had originally placed a block for our guests at this location.
I was told that my room was one of the newly renovated ones upon check-in wich was delayed past 3pm due to a late checkout by a "titanium bonvoy member".
This unit (313) needs a new bed as the springs are pretty well non-existant (we ended up sleeping at the head and foot of the bed on our wedding night so we could have some kind of support.
We were not informed that we would need to order breakfast the night before, or that it would actually cost us $8 +tax per meal in a bag (that probably costs about $3 max to assemble.
Hopefully the bathroom was excluded from this "renovation" as the undermount sink had gobs of glue unevenly smeared on the lip and gaps in between each smear. The shower was reminiscent of a stay in Cuba or the like, where they don't care that using the shower floods your entire bathroom if you don't stuff extra towels outside the unsealed door. The caulking in the shower was full of gaps and the glass wall was caulked with a green tinged caulking (usually an aging and molding issue). Aestheticlly the choice to join the brown granite with a translucent caulking really emphasized the separation/joints, where a mid to light brown caulking would have made a smooth transition allowing the for a cleaner and more pleasing visual. The mini fridge is placed right at the head of the bed and if it is on at all it buzzes incessantly making sleep all the more difficult to attain. The fireplace with we paid extra for was a huge disappointment. You have to sit on the uncomfortable couch if you want to watch the fire. The flames are set so low they are barely visible around the misplaced ceramic logs, and you can only feel the heat if you are immediately infront of the fireplace on the tile. Worst of all they attached the fireplace to what you normally see as a jacuzzi timer, so while you attempt to enjoy a quiet fire with your loved one you have a constant ticking sound punctuating every second the fire is on.
All in all we were happy to find this out before our wedding guests paid to stay at this hotel and experience the same kind of...
