Avoid at all costs – abysmal service and zero care for customers
First-time customer here, and I can confidently say I will never return. This business seems to have completely forgotten that the customer is the lifeblood of any operation. Huge lines and hyped-up popularity appear to have made the staff completely indifferent to anyone actually paying their bills. Waiting 30–40 minutes in line only to be told your item is sold out is unacceptable. A simple heads-up would save people an enormous amount of time, but apparently, that’s too much to ask.
The disaster didn’t end there. I ordered the #4 on the menu, which is supposed to be an apple fritter with ice cream and caramel sauce. My expectation: a classic sugar/cinnamon-coated apple fritter. What I received: a naked, bland fritter with no sugar coating whatsoever. When I asked why, I was told that because it already had caramel, they don’t coat it—seriously? How would any first-time customer know this? Asking politely for the regular sugar-coated fritter was met with refusal. The only “solution” offered was to sprinkle sugar on top, which is completely unacceptable—the sugar needs to adhere to the batter while fresh.
The sheer lack of customer service is mind-boggling. They had the opportunity to satisfy a paying customer in 30 seconds, yet chose to ignore my requests and only offered a refund. Unbelievable. This isn’t just bad service—it’s non-existent service. I hope the owners one day realize that customers are the heart of a business, but with attitudes like this, it might be too late.
This experience has been utterly disappointing, frustrating, and infuriating. Do yourself a favor and avoid this...

I got 1/2 dozen apple fritters and a fritter with ice cream and caramel. The apple fritters are made fresh on the spot, with the apple coring and slicing station on one side and deep frying station on the other.
The apple fritters are excellent when eaten hot, definitely living up to their fame. The apple slices are not cooked until mushy, and the delicate sweet and sour flavor rises from the dough flavour. The dough itself is just sweet enough to not overpower the apple itself. Sprinkled on top are we cinnamon sugar, which adds to the warm treat. This is the best apple fritters I've ever had.
The ice cream and caramel sauce apple fritters is only alright. I think the creamy and sweet flavors cover too much of the apple fritters' flavour. Maybe when the weather is too hot, it would be a good cold dessert.
Overall, very satisfied with the Fritter Co. If the lines aren't way too long next time, I would...
Read moreOne of the most prominent shops at St. Jacobs Farmers' Market, selling the best apple fritters you can get anywhere. Their fritters are freshly made with Ontario apples and fried to perfection. I love how crispy they are and each bite consists of large apple pieces. The apples being used are switched year-round to whatever is on season. So every time you visit, the flavour can be different. The one I had was Cortland.
The hot apple cider is my favourite during the fall and winter. Pairing cider with the hot fritters warms you up as you stroll through the bustling market.
The price went up slightly in 2022, but the amount you save is the same. Buying half a dozen saves you $2.5, while a dozen saves you $7. When in doubt, get more, as you can easily finish the whole box. The line for it can be very long. So make sure you dress warm during the winter while...
