In Sept 2020, I ordered one ordinary bar stool to match two others I previously bought from this location several years ago with the goal of having the stain match for all 3. I was contacted in Jan 2021 that the chair was ready and I was disappointed to drive over one hour to the store to discover a major flaw on the top of the chair. Paying approx $550 for this chair (when I only paid $200 each for the earlier two I bought that had no flaws) this was not at all acceptable. They tried to convince me this was natural and I should take the chair as is but no, the manufacturer had a choice where to hide that significant flaw in the wood and decided at the top of the chair where it was most visible was appropriate, which was not ok at all. So the store agreed to build me a new chair, put me on the bottom of their priority list after taking the balance of my money, then made me msg them MANY times over the next few months to find out the status of my chair. Finally, 9 months after I placed my order, the chair was delivered to me at the end of June 2021. In comparison, I ordered a full mennonite dining room set in April 2021 from a small store in Mississauga and it was delivered to me within 10 weeks with no noticeable flaws. So Covid is not an excuse for production delays for other stores! Free delivery (which cost them nothing to toss on the truck my one chair that piggybacked another delivery they made to my area) was my only compensation. I asked for 2 small trim pieces (the size of a kid's ruler) to be stained as compensation and that could not be arranged due to Covid - even though libraries can loan out material, etc. and the trim pieces could have sat untouched for days/weeks (like my chair did) to make sure there was no Covid on it. No compensation offered against the value of the chair - their offer was to give me 40% off if I wanted to buy anything more from their store in the future. No thank you, not a chance will I set foot in your store again. Spend you hard earned dollars with a store that will treat you with respect - that store is NOT St Jacobs...
Read moreVery poor experience. Custom dining table delivered. Darker than we choose...looks black. Wormy maple this dark looks like damaged goods. Sheen on table very low even though we made a point of asking for substantial shine. Table base is still not fixed to the top of the table as the the studs in the base were put into deep and screws won't attach. Still waiting for service nine days since delivery. Unusable. We called and called and called. We were told sorry, but, no offer of help. Restocking fee is 30% which would be close to a thousand dollars if we returned it. Some areas underneath table top not stained. This was our third custom piece. Huge disappointment in quality, usability, service and lack of interest in customer satisfaction. Buyer beware!
Thank you for your response. At $3,290.97, I would hardly call a 52 inch round table made from wormy maple a cost effective solution. In my opinion. The solutions you offered us were at our additinal cost ranging from 300.00 to 1,000.00 dollars. The first attempt to service the table resulted in a hold while awaiting a quote to refinish the surface. The second call from us for an update was to say how much the quote was. The 3rd call was to have your technician come out today. That call was made Friday. At no time were we offered multiple service dates. Thank you for the opportunity to clarify. Her warm sincere personality felt like we were dealing with a long time friend. We left the store feeling confident with our purchase.
We were so happy with our experience that we called a few weeks later to add to our purchase. We once again spoke with Kim. She immediately sent us a photo of the piece we were thinking of purchasing from her floor model along with the price. She was very kind, helpful and informative with all the questions we had. We very happily added to our order.
