My family and I intended to stay 1 night at the Italia Suite. We stayed on our vacation on our first day in Santiago coming back from Patagonia. Upon arrival the door would not open and no one was at the desk ready for our arrival. The walls were peeling and there was a young boy operating the desk who did not speak english (which is understandable). However, when we called they immediately hung up on us assuming we couldn't speak spanish yet I can speak. The service was downright terrible and the floors and rugs were soiled and moldy. Mold was all over the walls of the bathroom and outlets were all broken except for 1. The lighting was also dreadful in that it was dim and the hallway was extremely dirty. You can hear everything in that hotel and the walls are paper thin. Additionally, the lady got mad at us because we didnt know how to open the door and proceeded to demonstrate very rudely how to use a key. Additionally, there is never anyone on staff and when we called the woman was half asleep in her pajamas at 6:00 pm. To add onto that, we had asked if there was a way she could call a taxi and although she had the app she refused to call a taxi or help us at all whatsoever. Lastly, for breakfast we received a piece of bread and jelly that was clearly stale and the tables were very dirty as well. We fell for the pictures on the page because that is not what it looks like at all! DO NOT...

Read moreI chose the place based on reviews and got a bit of 'heat' when we pulled up in front. It is in an older neighborhood and is not Impressive from the front. If you want luxury this is not the place. If you want a warm and friendly atmosphere it is here. The breakfast is good, with fresh fruit, cheese, cereal, eggs etc. You won't be hungry. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The downstairs bedroom is a bit noisy as it sits just off the reception area and there is a window that lets in too much light. We stayed upstairs in a large room with a small balcony overlooking the street and it had a small sitting area. Perfect! The price is right and it is close to public transportation and walking distance to...
