El Gallo Con Tacones — Hotel in Providencia

Our stay here was really bad and there are many hostels in Santiago that I'm sure are much better.||But in fact it is not really a hotel and more of a house because the other people staying there are living there for a semester or a year and they don't really like having people around so they didn't wanna talk to us.||||The location is terrible, it is far from the center and there is nothing around.||||The rooms are comfortable but really small, dark, and most of all really noisy. It seems like the people living in the house don't care about the people staying in the hostal and put horrible music on really early in the morning and keep partying until late at night.||||Last but not least, the staff is really unfriendly and don't really care about their hosts. There was a really large kitchen (which is like half of the house bevause there is no living room) but they didn't allow us to use it because they said it was only for the people living in the house and not for the ones in the hostal, so we had to go eat outside and pay for a cab (because once again, it is really far).||||If I have to give you one advice: do...

This is the first 1 star review I’ve ever left. My friend and I stayed here in October 2018 for about a week and loved it. We enjoyed it so much we decided we wanted to stay again to end our trip in April, but then had a terrible experience.

My friend went to the hostel to book two nights, about a week before our intended stay. The staff member wrote it down and said no problem. A week later, we arrived, signed in and were shown to our room. About 20 minutes later, a knock on the door and a different staff member said that our room was actually booked (and already paid for) by other guests, that they were full for the night and that we would need to leave immediately. There was no apology, no offer to help in finding an alternative, and it was only after I pressed for an explanation that he admitted the miscommunication within the team.

So on a Friday night, we had to scramble to find alternative accommodation with zero notice. After such a lovely stay in October, the experience in April was completely the opposite and...

We arrived here on a cold night and Cristian was nice enough to have warmed up our room. ||||The bathroom is shared but it's good and clean. They provide you with big nice towels.||||The room is spacious and the bed is very confortable and warm. And there is a nice decor. It's an old building but everything is tidy and very clean.||||Breakfast is included in the room rate and it consists of a freash nice sandwich with cheese, turkey and vegetables, coffee-tea, milk, fruits and some cake. Pretty good!||||On the down side, it's not very easy to find as there is no name or number outside the door - this is not your typical hostel. I believe it is a shared house between young people and they rent the spare room. You can use the microwave and kettle in the kitchen, but they don't allow you to use the gas stove.||||I would stay here again, it's decent value for money.
