I anticipated staying in Coyhaique for one night, but was so impressed with Huella Patagonica, I stayed a second to explore the city more. The property is very modern but with a cozy rustic feel. Bathrooms and bunks were exceptionally clean and the morning breakfast (included in price) was a great start to the day. The spread was typical of Chile with bread, cheese, salami, cereal, juice, but best of all, coffee -- actual brewed coffee from fresh ground beans, not the Nescafe that is ubiquitous throughout Chile. They have a full service cafe for breakfast if you desire more -- eggs, hash browns, toast, etc.
I checked out at 11:00AM, but due to a later bus, had a few hours to kill. The owners were more than happy to let me stay in the cafe/common area, use the wifi -- which was strong and fast -- and drink complemntary tea and coffee (Nescafe here, but it is free, and available to make for yourself all day).
The best part of my stay here were the owners. They were friendly, helpful (helped us book bus/ferry) and just nice people. Fun to chat with and helped me practice some spanish. Both speak great English!
Looking forward to my next visit to Coyhaique at...
Read moreWe loved our stay here in the quad room with private bathroom on the second floor. It has lovely views, beds are super comfortable and shower has lots of hot water and pressure. Just be careful as the small tub can be slippery. Everything was spotlessly clean. There is a common area, a kitchen, a library on the first floor and an honor fridge with drinks. Quiet time is 22:00 but we heard no noise at any time. Front door is opened and secured by an access code and there is a locked parking lot but we just parked on the street. Wifi was excellent everywhere in the hostal. Breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, ham, cheese, salami and scrambled eggs. Coffee is very good. Hostess Gabi is a delight, full of enthusiasm, smiles and lots of tips to enjoy your stay. She and her sister truly care about making their hostel the best it can be and it shows. Will definitely stay there again if we are...
Read moreI've never written a review before, but this place is so awesome I felt guilty not sharing. Everyone who works there is beyond incredible. I was in town to deal with some paperwork hiccups while trying to leave Chile after a couple months in Aysén, and my Spanish is far from perfect. Gaby called an astonishing number of different people to help me out. I couldn't have made it out of the country without her help. She spent hours helping me. I cannot extend my gratitude enough!! Thank you all for everything!!
The hostel itself is wonderful. Modern, clean, and has everything you could ever need (with an impressive local beer selection downstairs as well) and has the best value of any hostel I've ever stayed at. The free breakfast alone is worth it, as it's actually a full meal. Overall, I could not recommend this place enough. I will see you...
