Patagon Backpackers Coyhaique — Hotel in Coyhaique

I stayed here on my way down towards the Villa Cerro Castillo trek and I really enjoyed my time.

Afterwards I returned to Coyhaique and specifically choose to come to this hostel because of the vibe and the staff.

Because they didn't have room the first night back I stayed in another hostel but returned to Patagon the next day because I preferred it over Alma hostel.

The staff are friendly, accomodating and helpful with any inquiries you might have. They quickly create a familiar and friendly feeling if you are open as well.

The dorms are clean and good with comfortable beds, could get a tad small with everyone having a big backpack but nothing that really bothered. In some dorms there were specific areas for backpacks and shoes which created more space. Neither too cold nor too hot.

The showers are warm and well kept, the kitchen highly usable and has most things you'd need to prepare any type of meal.

The common area is decent and a good place to hang with other travelers, although the kitchen was equally a meeting spot.

The area around the hostel is quiet in a residential area and close to anything in town (but what isn't haha). The hostel uses a code for the door that changes often and a gate towards the street.

I recommended this place to some people I met in Villa Cerro Castillo and they ended up staying here and enjoying themselves.

The price is what you expect of a normal hostel and worth it. They help you with transfers to Balmaceda airport as well which pick you up outside the hostel. The hostel is 1.5 km walk from the bus station where regional and other buses depart from.

A good place to use as a stepping off point towards the south or to recuperate heading north.

Realice un viaje por unos días a las catedrales de Mármol via ferry desde Quellon, al respecto, me hospede por tres días en el hostal Patagon Backpackers en la ciudad de Coyhaique. ||Primero, al llegar el día viernes a medio día había un gran desorden en el equipo de trabajo, un amigo había hecho una reserva para mí, dejando explícitamente escrito y hablando personalmente con un encargado, que yo iba a ocupar la habitación, pero la encargada de ese día, no tenía idea y había hecho la reserva a nombre de mi amigo. ||Cuando llegue a los baños, estos se encontraban sucios y con fragmentos de papel sanitario en el piso.||Al momento de guardar mis cosas en el refrigerador, este se encontraba muy desordenado, con envases plásticos que ni siquiera tenían contenidos guardados dentro. Cuando le pregunté a la encarga como guardar mis cosas, lo único que recibí fue una mirada de desagrado, situación bastante descarada, considerando el desorden general que había en el hostal, y sobre todo en el refrigerador||Por cierto, debo mencionar que en ningún momento se explicó las reglas del hospedaje, a excepción del cierre de la puerta, tuve que inferir por mis compañeros de habitación y un cartelito minúsculo en la cocina.||En la noche de ese primer día, un huéspedes se puso a hablar a gritos sobre las duchas, que aparentemente estaban tapadas y se juntaba agua -lo cuál termino siendo cierto cuando las ocupe- era tarde, tipo 11 de la noche y en mi habitación todos estaban durmiendo puesto que salían temprano a realizar sus excursiones. Ninguna encargada fue capaz de pedirle que bajaran la voz, el chico se aburrió de gritar y se llevó el sueño de toda la habitación. ||Finalmente, el día que me retire, las duchas no tenían agua caliente, espere diez minutos hasta que me aburrí y me termine duchando con agua fría. Considérese que ese día estaba muy helado y con fuerte viento.||En cuanto a las encargadas, brillaron por su ausencia, recién el día de mi salida, me vine a enterar que eran nada menos que tres, puesto que estaban todas conversando en la cocina, irónicamente, ese fue el día en el que se presentaron.||La verdad, sentí cero interés de las encargadas por hacerte pasar una buena estadia, estaban más interesadas en conversar entre ellas que sociabilizar con los huéspedes. De hecho, cuando ocupe el televisor para ver la noticias, esto debido a que en mi excursión no tuve señal y justo ocurrieron las marejadas en la costa central, una encarga, literalmente, me quito el control de la mano para cerrar la cuenta de Netflix, que, por cierto, no sabía cómo cerrar y le termino ayudando el hijo pequeño de una huésped.||En resumen, nunca me sentí acogido como en otros hostales dónde te entregan recomendaciones o por último te preguntan cómo estás, cuando consulte sobre la posibilidad de realizar más excursiones, la encargada no tenía idea y solo me dió indicaciones vagas y evidentes.||Sobre eso, creo que la única vez que ví contenta a la encargada fue cuando le confirme que el pago lo había hecho completo.||Sinceramente, extrañe la cercanía y calidez de los hostales de Chiloe, dónde hasta en el lugar más sencillo la gente se preocupar por último en saber si estás cómodo. ||En resumen, si van a Coyhaique, omitan absolutamente este hostal, hagan como que no existiera, de la misma forma como las encargadas omiten la comodidad de sus huéspedes. ||El hostal es céntrico, las literas muy cómodas y el ambiente del grupo con el cual compartí habitación muy amable. La única persona encargada que valía la pena, fue una chica que realizaba el aseo, pero parece que era externa al equipos e trabajo estable. Ella fue muy dulce y amable...

The hostel looks good, the facilities etc. The room was okay, I mean the basics + tv. We were on floor 0 so I guess we were sharing bathroom with all the other guests that were using the living room/kitchen areas which was a bit annoying since we arrived after a full day trip and just wanted to take a shower and personally I had to wait 1 hour. Same during the night I wanted to go to the bathroom I tried 3 times then I gave up. There was always someone taking a shower. The person that checked us in was a bit weird. I’m not waiting for someone to be happy all the time of course, but I also work in hospitality and now how to attend clients. The person was a bit rude, and has a resting b face like she hated everyone or she hated her job.
