HOTEL SAHARA INN — Hotel in Santiago

Overall, the hotel was pleasant for a nights stay. We stayed in a double room, which was very clean, and very warm and comfortable. The location is fairly quiet, but only a few blocks away from La Moneda. Staff were nice, and spoke great English. Shower was very hot, and had strong water pressure. Some little things: the light switch to the room was just outside the door, not inside, so to shut the lights off for bed, you have to open the door again and hit the switch. Also, the door has a window facing the hallway, and even with the room's lights out, the light from the hallway keeps it brighter than I'd like (so I rigged a towel up to block this light). Also, the door buzzer can be heard plain as day through the doors, so if you're a light sleeper, you may find this annoying. Also, you can pay in CLP or USD, but I think their conversion rate favors paying in USD, unless the person who converted it to CLP typo'd in the calculator. As for recommending next time, if you're just a tourist staying for a day or two, I'd recommend checking out the Bellavista neighborhood north east of this location. It's a nicer looking area (very artsy) with more things to do and see. But if your travels require you to be in this neighborhood, I think Hotel Sahara offers great value with...

Only good enough for probably one night. The rooms are very small, no room for suitcases. Only two towels in the bathroom, no towel for hands or anything. The breakfast is toast (more like just warm bread) with jam and butter, tiny little 1/4 cup of orange juice and eggs.. However, the lady only asked my dad if he wanted eggs. Never looked at me. When she brought the scrambled eggs over ( more like only one egg), she only brought enough for him. When i asked her for some as well she just looked at me and walked away. Never brought more. So i get a bite from my dads eggs and they're completely cold. Mind you, 30 seconds had passed since they were placed on the table. When my dad went to the kitchen to ask if he could microwave them or something, they gave him a hard time with it. The place itself is pretty clean. La mattina del 26 mi sono trovato un personale, a dir poco molto scortese, dovevo trasferirmi all'aeroporto con i minuti contati, e la colazione era ritardata quando ho chiesto "quanto manca ancora" ho avuto come risposta "il personale è appena arrivato", cioè io dovrei calcolare questa risposta in minuti!...prendendo posto nella sala della colazione dopo qualche minuto di ritardo la colazione è partita, ma hanno iniziato a servire gli altri ospiti invece che me!, nonostante avevo manifestato la mia fretta per dover partire in tempo. Avrei potuto fare a meno della colazione, prenderla all'aeroporto, ma quello che mi ha colpito è la scortesia, bastava poco. La ragazza addetta alla reception direi che è il personale che uno non verrebbe trovare in un albergo, si è sentita indisturbata quando le ho chiesto di tenermi in reception un attimo il trolley per poter recarmi alla saletta pranzo (avevo un problema di salute che non mi permetteva di fare sforzi), inoltre uscendo non mi ha neanche salutato. Ci tengo a dire che io sono una persona tranquilla, sul momento non ho fatto nessuna polemica, per cui giudico questo atteggiamento un normale comportamento! Peccato, solo per questo motivo, il quale ritengo importante: la cortesia e il buon rapporto con il cliente, non tornerò. Tutto questo a dispetto del ragazzo del 25 sera il quale è stato cortese e educato.||||En la mañana del 26/05 me encontré con un personal, por decir lo menos, poco cortes, yo tenía que trasladarme al aeropuerto con los minutos contados, y el desayuno era en retardo, cuando pregunte "cuanto faltaba?" como toda respuesta me dijeron "el personal acaba de llegar!", como podía hacer yo para calcular esta respuesta en tiempo! ... de todas maneras me acomode en el comedor y después de unos minutos de retraso empezaron a servir, no obstante había dicho que tenia prisa porque tenia que ir al aeropuerto fui el ultimo a ser servido! Hubiera podido desayunar en el aeropuerto, el problema no es eso, lo que me llamo la atención fueron los modos poco gentiles y desatentos, por ejemplo la señorita de la reception se sintió disturbada cuando le pedí si no me podía tener el trolley en la reception, una cosa normal en los hoteles, no? la misma persona, cuando me fui del hotel ni siquiera levanto la vista para saludarme. Quiero decir que soy una persona tranquila, en el momento no levante una polémica, estaba solo deprimido porque no me esperaba esta actitud, siendo que no me había ni siquiera malhumorado considero que este modo de actuar sea practica normal para estas personas! Creo que la cortesía y los buenos modos sean una parte importante por lo tanto no volveré a este hotel, es una pena. Lastima porque el conserje del hotel que estaba el 25/05 a la noche fue...
