Located right across from the supermarket, a block away from the mall and walking distance from the main square and the waterfront, this hotel has a perfect location in Valdivia. I say hotel because, despite the name, it lacks the dormitory-style rooms typical of youth hostels. The rooms were small, but the beds were very comfortable and the bathroom, while hospitalesque, was clean and had hot water, although it sometimes fluctuated more than was comfortable. Read moreWe were kind of put off when we showed up at the hostel because it is a sketchy building off a side street behind a supermarket, but it ended up not being nearly as bad as we originally assumed. The location, although sketchy, was actually great: right next to a Unimarc supermarket, and just a few minutes from the center of downtown, and just a short walk to the bus terminal. Bed had a down quilt :-) Breakfast was more than usual in Chile -- yoghurt, banana, toast, meat, cheese, tea and instant coffee. Supermarket across the street. River is only a few blocks away and makes for a nice stroll into town. If you arrive by bus this is a perfect location between bus terminal and downtown.
