Poor communication made check in a lengthy and boring experience as we argued about the price for the one night we had previously agreed. Our room on the ground floor was adequate. Breakfast was in the reception area....all guests seated around a table with various food and drink items on a table next to the main dining table. It had insufficient space for all the guest and felt very cramped. My wife and I don't like sharing a table with strangers at 7 am. Everyone was forced to manauvver in a quite restricted areas to get breakfast items. It felt very uncomfortable. None of this is clear in the posada blurb....as is the fact that the pool is out of action and the garden is very neglected. To cap that...we were woken the previous evening by a guy who had booked a room but turned up late. He was unable to contact anyone connected with his booking and left by taxi after disturbing us. Never saw him again. It was VERY disturbing to know that someone can come into the property after staff had left and wander around unchallenged. We said on check in that the electric gate to the property was broken and nothing was done. Having some basic security is essential and in this regard the posada scores zero. Overall a pretty poor experience and one we are highly unlikely to repeat...you have...
Read moreThe strange thing is that this hotel ‘nestles’ between shipyards...... but in fact you don’t notice that! The position is actually excellent with an amazing view of the river and city. There is obviously a sculling club nearby and you can watch the boats hurtling up and down the river, especially first thing in the morning ..and at night the city lights up and reflects on the water....it’s amazing.|If I had a criticism it would be that the staff on the desk when we arrived were really very supercilious......an indication that they were operating out of their ability.....and that they completely lacked training. Aside from that, rest of the staff were really quite good.....the rooms were spacious and clean, bathrooms good, beds comfortable and breakfasts quite adequate|In the Chilean sense of the word. |It is an old fashioned sort of place, but better for it I would say.....it’s quite a way from town, so you need a car or taxi...but better for that too.|All in all, whilst not inexpensive, I thought it was good value and would...
Read moreThe hotel is nicely situated and quite in a patch of tall trees near a river.||The rooms and halls are very large and clean but a little stuffy. IMHO they need more ventilation and carpet shampoo . I was on the 3rd floor. No thermostat in the room to set individual heating or air conditioning as the air is circulated centrally. But the large windows can be slid wide open to let in the fresh air from the woods. You can even produce a draft with the opposite windows in the hall. Some flying insects after sunset but no mosquitoes per say. No mosquito screens either but gauze drapes and curtains.||The buffet breakfast had some fresh fruit prepared in site, some canned and some unprepared. Some pastries but no freshly squeezed joice, no muesli, no oats, no fish, no croissants. Ham and tomato omelet made to order and well prepared.||Fridge in room and minibar. Wi-Fi was...
