There is so much to love about La Casa del Almirante. Before we even arrived, i was impressed by how quickly Jose Manuel responded to my inquiries via email, and upon arrival he was gracious and helpful. This is a beautiful boutique hotel in a historic building on a quiet hill in a residential neighborhood but close to everything. The pictures on their website are representative of the decor and level of detail that make this place stand out but it is even better looking in person. We stayed in the Mediterraneo room which is the same basic layout as the Atlantico room except i think it is a little nicer. It is on the corner of the building that faces the ocean - so has a view of the water (somewhat obstructed, but a view of the ocean, nonetheless). Excellent shower with terrific water pressure, plenty of hot water. I slept so well - the bed was so comfy and the room was large with lots of sunlight. The rooms are nicely furnished with antiques but still felt contemporary. An extremely friendly cat and very cute dog on the property kept us company on the terrace. It was a nice place to relax with a bottle of Chilean wine and enjoy the weather. The hotel is an easy walk to town, the beach etc. We never had to take a taxi to get to town (except for the day we left with our luggage). The subway station is also close by, making it very convenient to go to Valparaiso for the day. Breakfast, as other guests have mentioned was good: fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurt, juice, bread etc. Breakfast started at 9:00am - which is a little later than other places we have stayed. If you are the type of traveler who likes to get an early start to your day, this is something to keep in mind. Another review mentioned that the owner/staff was difficult to reach. We needed to reach someone when the taxi we thought was scheduled did not arrive and we needed to get to the bus terminal. The buzzer on the front gate connected us with Jose Manuel directly and he was quick to help us. He even was prepared to drive us to the bus terminal himself so that we could make our scheduled bus trip back to Santiago for our return trip home. (Fortunately, the taxi arrived so he didn't have to drive us). That is the kind of caring and exceptional service that makes the Casa del...
Read moreLa Casa del Almirante is an amazing place. Last night there was an earthquake and Tsunami in Chile, and my 85 year old mother was running away from the evacuation area. Maria Jose, the hotel owner sent her father to pick up my mother at 11 p.m. to a near-by place, to bring her to the hotel. La Casa del Almirante is located in a safe area from the Tsunami's evacuation area on the cost. Maria Jose went above and beyond to any services that I have seen in a hotel. They are wonderful. My family loved the hotel, with wonderful breakfast, shower and specially an amazing customer service. I highly...
Read moreMy husband and I rented a car in Santiago and drove into Vina Del Mar at the end of a month long visit through S America. We were road weary, had yet another town to navigate and we were in need of assistance with auto problems, and laundry and some suggestions to make the most of our time in Vina Del Mar, Valparaiso, and Isla Negra. The owner, Jose and his staff couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. We were very glad that we choose this lovely little Inn as our home base for our stay. The accommodations were clean and very comfortable. We highly recommend Casa...
