Laizhu Xingchen Hotel — Hotel in Chengdu

I stayed here during my solo travel around Sichuan province and I have to say the service here was brilliant! The girls at the front desk were lovely and super helpful, and I was upgraded for free which I really appreciated being on my own. Due to the change in policy I couldn't fly with my battery pack so had to have it sent via SF to the hotel, the reception helped me to pay the fee and kept the package at the desk for me to collect when I got back late. I also extended my stay by one night and the staff were great at communicating the details and keep that same room. The location of the hotel is also brilliant, right on the main shopping street~ I've been to many before so I wasn't that bothered by the shops themselves but to new travellers in China it'd be quite an experience and is very convenient for the station and taxis (though traffic is particularly bad in Chengdu so allow extra time). The cleanliness was reasonable, the fixtures and fittings in the room are a decent standard, my room included a bath overlooking the city view which was particularly cool; the rubbish collected and sheets changed consistently and the water was replenished every day by the nice Ayi even if I hadn't finished the previous bottles. However, the building itself is quite old, and there are numerous hotels within the same structure. This leads to busy elevators both day and night, which made me feel a bit uneasy; it seems like anyone can access the floors.2. Value for Money: You definitely get what you pay for at this hotel. While the location is great, the overall condition of the building reflects its pricing.3. Staff: On a positive note, the staff is friendly and helpful, even if there’s a language barrier with English. They seem eager to assist, which is always a plus.4. Cleanliness: The housekeeping staff does come in every day and provides water and amenities. However, they didn’t change the bed sheets, even when I specifically requested it. This could be an area for improvement.In summary, while the hotel has some appealing aspects, such as its location and friendly staff, there are notable concerns regarding safety and cleanliness. It’s a decent choice if you want to explore Chengdu on a budget, but be mindful of the building's age...

We had a great time staying at your place. The staff who welcomed us were so kind and nice. We only found out at check-in that we had booked rooms without windows, but she kindly upgraded us to rooms with windows — one even had a view of the IFS panda, which was so fascinating! The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were well-oriented and had a great service mindset. I asked for a recommendation for a local market, and she suggested Eastern Suburb Memory.
