The upside of this hotel is that it's the final stop for the Airport Bus. So, it's very cheap to get to downtown. Should you stay at other parts of the city, it's at the central transport hub where the old train station and metro station is located. These days, there's Guangzhou South Train Station, Guangzhou East Train Station, and this locality is called Guangzhou Train Station, and that would mean it's the "old" station. If you are a business traveller, and that you want convenience, this hotel would suit you immensely. If you are less proficient in Chinese, then, you may struggle because this is afterall a business hotel catering to local travellers. During my stay there, there is a higher concentration of ethnic travellers (meaning, lesser white travellers). You have got all the essentials in the room, and that breakfast is provided (depending which package that you end up buying, and it covers all the essentials too). WiFi does an OK job. One word of caution though, Guangzhou Train Station is arguably one of the seediest place in China (fact, as shown on Google), and despite that the place is always surrounded by throngs of people 24 7, it has a higher concentration of people that have a tendency to hustle you to buy stuff that you don't need, people who have a tendency to stare at you protractedly. There is commotion everywhere with people shouting at one another, heckling, and occasional fight. A tell tale sign is that there's a very large police station there with high number of security guards fronting the premises complementing the large police contingent. This hotel may not suit everybody but it...
Read moreThe only good thing about this hotel is the location it is situated in and mediocre rooms for cheap price. I stayed here for 6 nights roughly and they were a disaster.
• First issue I faced is every morning for breakfast when I provide them with my room number, they tell me I don’t have breakfast included which I do and paid for. Thus I tell them to check again this time ensuring they know what my room number is and they try very hard to get me to pay extra money for breakfast which is absolutely wrong.
• Second issue I face is the security in this hotel. Whenever I’m trying to go back to room after a long tiring day they must ask me which floor I’m on, which room I’m in, my name. Doing this once or twice is alright but everyday seems like a personal issue they might have with my race or some? I have confronted them also and they just back away, but it’s not right.
• Third issue is the lack of English. I have traveled to a lot of countries and I understand one must use their native language as it’s a proud feeling for a patriot. But understand you are in a hospitality business and you make money if guests which are mostly foreigners attend thus having atleast 1 person who speaks English or is fluent is essential. Secondly proper staff training is curricula too, they should know how to deal with issues.
• Lastly they don’t have English or continental breakfast. They only serve bread and sunny side up eggs during international fair like Canton fair. Believe me I found it very difficult eating cold sunny side up eggs by themselves...
Read moreCheck in was fast. Front office staff was efficient with our booking even at 4am.Room provided is good. Most importantly it's clean (to our standard) and non smoking room. Offered to pick which floor to stay, we picked the highest floor so water pressure slightly low so unable to enjoy a pouring shower haha. But it's decent water pressure.Bed and sheets are all good and comfy to us. Toiletries and towels are provided too. Metro mrt station and long-distance train station both within the same building just across the hotel. By foot probably 100m away. No crossing of roads required. "Guangzhou train station" is the name of the station. As long as you can get to metro in Guangzhou, it'll be all convenient to other parts of Guangzhou. At least that's to us. Only drawback in this area (not the hotel) is we can't find good f&b outlets. Just one or two coffee shop serving decent local noodles. Perhaps asking the front desk suggestion would help but we didn't. This side of Guangzhou is of older buildings and infra not the ultra modern high rise modern side of China. Two convenient stores located just at ground floor next to hotel.I'd recommend this hotel to others. All pictures are not related to the hotel or nearby hotel. Sorry about it. Don't be misled. Only picture related is the train...
