Guangzhou Jiangyue Hotel — Hotel in Guangzhou City

If you're looking for a horrific hotel experience, this is your gig! One of the staff went so far as to yell out "gweilo" as we entered, and while I get that some residents don't consider it offensive, I didn't get the sense that it was a friendly greeting. ||||There are mahjong rooms upstairs, and the ceiling was thin enough that we could hear people playing late, and the smell of their cigarette smoke made it into the room, which was pretty slumtacular. ||||Bathroom had a few mosquitoes and "that Chinese hotel bathroom smell." Althought the location was good and we had a nice river view from our large window, the room smelled strongly of smoke and the bathroom was not clean with lots of mold. The furnishings were worn. The lighting in the room was very poor and even with every light turned on, it was hard to read after dark. the wireless did not work on the upper floors and we had to go to the lobby to check EM. The Air Con was barely acceptable the first night, but by the second night it was not working well at all. When called, we were told they had a problem with the Air Con in all of the rooms. even though the location is okay, the hotel is all in all pretty worn down...the nice big windows in the rooms are in fact nice...that nice, that you can actually can still see the handoil of the couple that was enjoying the nice view out of the panoramic windows during a little comfort time...really not that nice...but i had luck to be staying on the "panoramic" upper floor as on groundfloor i encountered the larges cockroaches i've seen in guangzhou during the stay...toilet of the lobby...how embarassing...well...i didn't try the breakfast and went on the next morning...at least the price was ok...i took the other one the...
