My experience, starting from check-in, was far below the standard expected of a four-star establishment, and significantly impacted my business trip.Upon arrival, a considerable language barrier at the front desk made communication challenging. We were also informed, via a sign, of ongoing construction that would involve noise and power interruptions. This immediately raised concerns about the hotel meeting its advertised rating. My experience aligns with information I received from a local supplier, who indicated that the Likto Hotel is considered a one-star establishment according to Chinese grading standards.
The issues continued in our room. We found that the safe was non-functional. Upon inquiry with the manager, we were informed this was due to the absence of security cameras on the fourth floor. This lack of security measures was unsettling and forced us to carry our valuables at all times, which was very inconvenient.
Regrettably, the situation escalated further when our toilet became clogged. The staff member who responded to our request for assistance was not only unhelpful but also acted rudely, even physically pushing my husband in frustration. This behaviour is completely unacceptable.
I immediately lodged a complaint with the on-duty manager and my booking agent in South Africa. While the manager pleaded with us not to report the incident and the employee eventually offered an apology, the incident itself reflects poorly on the hotel's service standards.
Furthermore, the hotel lacked essential amenities. The absence of a bar or beverage service meant no room service was available. We were compelled to leave the hotel to purchase our own food and drinks from a nearby convenience store. The breakfast offered was also not of an international standard, consisting solely of Chinese cuisine. Consequently, we only had coffee on our first morning and chose not to have breakfast at the hotel for the remainder of our stay.
The experience continued to be problematic. We were woken in the early hours of the morning (2 am) by construction noise outside our room. Additionally, the shower in our room contained a dead cockroach and was mouldy and filthy. Despite these issues, I was hopeful when I found a laundry room. However, the laundry room closed at 11 pm, and my clothes were left stuck in the dryer. When we sought assistance from the front desk, another male employee was sent to help. This employee began to operate the dryer incorrectly, which would have ruined my clothes. When we asked him to stop, he proceeded to push me. My husband and I went to reception and requested to see camera footage. Using Google Translate, the on-duty manager stated there were no cameras in the laundry room and asked for forgiveness.
I was eager to leave the hotel, which had a noticeable smell of old cigarette smoke. Disturbingly, hotel staff also ignored the "Do Not Disturb" sign and entered our room while I was dressing. This occurred because the air conditioning unit had broken. Due to the multitude of negative experiences, we have decided that we will not book accommodation in...

Upon arrival, our group was warmly greeted with a traditional Chinese dance, which added a special touch to our experience. The hotel is conveniently located near the city center, making it easy to travel to and from the fair with their free shuttle service. Every day, the hotel thoughtfully provided water, snacks, napkins, and bananas for our group, which was a nice and practical touch. While the hotel is small, it has a very friendly atmosphere, and the staff is always attentive, especially the bellmen, who were extremely kind and ready to assist at any time. Although the staff doesn't speak much English, they still made a great effort to communicate and help us with anything we needed. The breakfast at the hotel was quite basic, but it offered everything needed to start a productive day. Likto Hotel has been our preferred choice every year for attending the Canton Fair because of its excellent service and welcoming...
