The Happy Monk — Restaurant in Guangzhou City

Ok, after a few days of the usual Chinese fare and surroundings I thought I look for something “western” and found the Happy Monk on the internet. Looked ok, so I ventured out with my VNPd GoogleMap. Little did I know. Google Maps are WAY off in China for national security (???) reasons, so it took me quite a while to even find the place. In the end a combination of Apple maps (!) and some gut feeling led me to the Happy Monk. Ok place, very pub-like (and that’s what I needed that evening), AND THEY ACCEPT (non-Chinese) CREDIT CARDs!!! EVERONE in China pays with their phones, and credit cards and ATMs will be the phone booths of the 2020s here, definitely. But I digress. The pub is nice, with a mix of native and expat/tourist crowd. They have eight beers on draft, none of them Chinese, which I found a bit sad, but ok. Large Carlsberg is 35 CNY, large Heineken 45 CNY. Ok. The music is 100% western. Three screens, all showing music videos, no sports (but maybe there was nothing going on that night). Staff very friendly, but a bit difficult to communicate with. The worst restaurant in the whole city!!!! The food is overpriced and disgusting but for some reason you have to wait for hours to get it done!!!!!
