Check in:||Went with business associate to the front desk as early as 10:10, they promised that the room would be ready in 20-25 minutes. He left and we were waiting, when we went to ask again, they said we had to wait. English was not very well spoken all through the stay with the front desk staff. They kept us till 11. The only problem besides setting expectations wrong and keeping us waiting is that they embarrassed us with our business associate and we had to keep him waiting for 30 minutes.||One of the service staff though offered us a tea and some iced water and manually entered the wifi password in our devices.||Checkin: 6/10||Room:||Well decorated, comfortable with all the amenities one would think of and want. they even offer sleeping aids, different pillows, humidifiers and more. The amenities are refilled every day and complimentary water as well.||Excellent thermal control and sound insulation and excellent bathroom.||The room's only disadvantage is that it's tiny for two adults (we were two business associates travelling and the bathroom curtain showed a silhouette of the person having the shower||Room: 9/10||Checkout:||The front desk were aloof, not being able to communicate in another language doesn't necessarily mean that you couldn't be warm. It was probably the fact that we were checking out at 6am that was not very appealing. The invoice took a few iterations but luckily we requested it the night before and a concierge staff was the one that helped with the translation. I found it a bit odd that a nice hotel with such amazing team have only one English speaker. It was quick though in the morning and everything was quite smooth.||Checkout 7/10||Breakfast:||The cherry on top of the tart. The service staff were helpful, catering to all and any of my party's dietary needs. Excellent selection, fresh pastry even better than the selection I had in the Sheraton. The people are amazing despite that they don't speak good English, they were very helpful and nice. I give the breakfast 12 out of 10.||Concierge:||Their only benefit was that one of them spoke English. I asked for a cab to the train station, they told me that the hotel's cab would cost the same, RMB80, I felt it was too much for the distance and told him I won't use it. The cab cost me RMB25.||Concierge: 3/10||Bottom Line: Amazing Value, Excellent Location, Comfortable Rooms, Excellent Breakfast Staff, Lower than average front desk and concierge staff and not so good with English. If you speak Chinese or are a local, this hotel would probably be a 9/10 but for me, I...
Read moreHere I was again at one of my two (2) favourite PRC hotels and I have stayed at hotels in many Chinese cities. I was guest at the Nade Hotel from 16th to 18th Feb2014 and also from 19th to 21st Feb2014. Nade Hotel has good & clean rooms; it is well located and has an effective, friendly and competent assistant manager. I am pleased to say Liu Qing Qing is still doing commendable work getting things done. Nade Hotel staff are generally friendly & efficient. I was kindly allocated the same superior West Lake side room for both visits. When I pay my hard earned money for accommodation I can be critical of shortcomings but I am pleased to say that my room appeared to be clean as always. Breakfast setting in the level 22 western restaurant has definitely been improved and the presentation looks so much better and the food more appetizing since I was last here in Jul2013. Acquiring a yogurt machine similar to what appears to be in popular use at the Hangzhou Nade Freedom Ziyou Hotel might improve things further. And as I have said previously, there needs to be a western English news channel plus an English movie channel added to channel selection provided. Television watching for western travellers has never been a strong point. Downstairs the ground floor bar/ cafe area is spoiled by heavy smokers. Nade Hotel is close to both Hangzhou Towers and the Wulin Square Subway Station. It is located in what some now say is Hangzhou’s new CBD. I couldn’t think of a better location for a hotel in Hangzhou. A short distance away is the Marriot Hotel + the Marriot Courtyard Hotel but I much prefer where Nade Hotel...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel for two nights on our trip to China last weekend (Feb 6th & 7th). On our itinerary, we were supposed to stay at a different hotel but I don't know why they changed. Anyway, the hotel is nice and decent. Our room was clean and spacious. The bathroom was huge and I like that it has a shower stall rather than a bathtub. My Korean niece complained it was too dark because the room has no white light that they are used to. For me, the lighting was okay dim and relaxing. There is free WIFI and the code and password is located on the bedside table. As with the rest of China, Facebook is not accessible so I had to use a VPN. The TV has a lot of channels and they do have international channels including National Geographic which I love. The restaurant we had breakfast in is spacious with lots of tables. The variety of food is great from Western to Chinese. I had chow mein, steamed buns, stir-fried brocolli and salted duck egg on the two days we were there. The bread were delicious and they had a variety to choose from ~ croissants, rolls, cakes, mini pancakes, etc. Very much...
