I recently stayed at Zhongshan West Lake Hotel Hangzhou, and while my overall experience was pleasant, there were notable areas for improvement. The hotel’s amenities are impressive. My room was well-equipped, featuring a Dyson hair dryer, which was a thoughtful and luxurious touch. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the room’s modern design created a cozy atmosphere. Breakfast was decent, offering a selection of pastries, fruits, and hot dishes. However, the variety was lacking for a hotel of this caliber. After a few days, the options felt repetitive, and I would have appreciated a broader range to cater to different tastes. Unfortunately, the hotel reception fell short of expectations. While check-in was smooth, the staff were generally unhelpful when approached with queries or requests. On one occasion, I waited over 15 minutes for assistance, only to receive a vague response. This level of service does not align with the hotel's otherwise high standards. To maintain its popularity, Zhongshan West Lake Hotel Hangzhou should focus on improving staff training and attentiveness. Read moreThis hotel is absolutely amazing,in fact better than any big brand name I have stayed in!From the moment I arrived I experienced amazing customer service.First greeted by the doorman, then the super fast and kind reception staff and the concierge who handed me a bottle of warmed water and showed me to my room. The room itself was of a good size, the bed was extremely warm and comfortable, the closet had a lot of room for my clothes and the AC was easy to adjust. The tea and coffee had many choices. The TV had many Western channels as well as free movies. My room came with a bathtub so I used that instead of the shower. Every review I have read mentioned the Dyson hairdrier and yes it was there. The location of this hotel is amazing, around 15 minutes walk from the West Lake, on the same street as a very big mall complex which has many restaurants and there are also many stores around to buy snacks. When I return to Hangzhou I definitely will...
Read moreWife, 2 kids and I arrived around midday Saturday, after checking in went to the Chinese Restaurant for lunch.. Service was abysmal, despite there being only two other tables occupied. We tried to order a number of different dishes, but just about anything that appealed was unavailable. First plate arrived after 20 minutes, with a similar gap for each one following. Last item actually took over an hour to arrive, by which time we had already finished and paid the bill. |Room was looking a bit tired, but clean, although moldy growth on bath tiles . Check in was painfully slow, we actually had booked 2 rooms as we had a friend arriving from overseas later in the day, but somehow the booking for his room disappeared, but luckily another was relatively easily arranged. ||Priced at international hotel level, but nothing international whatsoever about this place. Chinese 3-star at best....
