I never give a 5 star rating, as I feel that there's always room for improvement. With that said, this hotel came close. Especially when it came to value for the money. The attention to detail was evident in this Boutique Hotel.
Let's start with the location. Superb. From the South Train Station we got on the red Metro Line. From our stop it was a short taxi or grab ride. And from the hotel, short rides to Walking Street, The Lake, etc.. Be sure to have the hotel name in English or your not getting picked up.
Check-in was smooth and quick, the staff friendly and helpful. The multiple elevators were quick and sophisticated. When you swiped your room key, it automatically lite up to your floor.
Our room was so spacious, beautifully decorated and well appointed. We had a Nespresso machine, nice cups, coffee, tea, wine glasses and lots of snacks, water, all free. And there were more in the lobby if you wanted them. Or, housekeeping would give you more, including water. A nice touch that we've never experienced.
We had a table, chairs and a small setee. Blackout curtains, two comfy beds with a duvet and nice pillows. A safe, robes, and slippers. The bathroom set-up was really nice. The shower and toilet we're in separate areas from the sink. Towels were large and fluffy, and there were even fresh flowers in the single vase on the bathroom vanity. And it was quiet.
The lighting was plentiful and well thought out. And we had plenty of receptacles. No complaints whatsoever. The only disappointment was the breakfast. It was included in the room rate and was a bit of a disappointment. They seemed about to run out of things, it was difficult picking up salad fixings with a fork instead of tongs and there wasn't an omelet station so your only choice was hardboiled eggs. It wasn't bad, it just could have been more varied, I died want soup everyday. But the coffee was good.
We also would have preferred different music. Something Chinese and more tranquil first thing in the morning. But this was our...
Read moreFrom the moment we arrived, we were greeted with such warmth by Polly, and it instantly gave us a sense of true Kunming hospitality. Her kindness and professionalism made us feel right at home from day one. Even on our last day, after an unexpected mishap outside the hotel, Polly and LiMon both stepped in to support us — going above and beyond to make sure we were okay and had a smooth experience before heading to our flight. We’re truly grateful for their care.LiMon was also incredibly helpful with our luggage and provided kind support during that stressful moment — we really appreciated the thoughtfulness and calm he brought to the situation. The room was spacious, clean, and extremely comfortable — the bed was cozy, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and the shower was excellent. While the view wasn’t particularly special, everything else about the room made up for it.One downside was the pool, which was under renovation for several more months, despite being listed as available when we booked. It was one of the main reasons I chose this hotel — hoping for some poolside downtime. The gym was decent, with good treadmills, but missing quite a bit of equipment, so the amenities didn’t fully match a 5-star expectation. That said, the service and staff were truly outstanding, and the location was super convenient — close to Kunming Night Market, Joy City Mall, and most key attractions were within a 20-minute drive.Overall, despite a few hiccups on the amenities side, the genuine care from Polly, LiMon, and the whole team made our stay memorable. Huge thanks again — we felt truly...
Read moreVery beautiful and chic little boutique hotel in Kunming. Looks new and clean. At check-in they need to take a photo of you with your passport to register. Rooms were comfortable, however quite poorly planned as the lights don't make sense at all and we cannot turn off certain sets of lights that were too glaring, without turning off everything else together as well. There was teamaking facilities, and a nespresso coffee macine. Absolutely appreciate the nespresso machine as my experience of China so far has been very terrible coffee... but, they did not provide any cups at all! I had to use a glass from the bathroom to make coffee in. The breakfast was also very exquisite... lots of Western and Chinese fare alike. Starts at 6am, which is fantastic. However, again problems with management as they forgot our room has paid for 3pax, but they only registered 2 for the breakfast and we had to resolve this matter. Really appreciate the proper coffee station as well that can provide proper espresso and lattes. Just that it can take a bit long to get your coffee if there are...
