Shanghai Jingan Campanile Hotel — Hotel in Shanghai

We stayed at the Campanile Jing’an Hotel for 2 weeks in early November 2019. We initially chose the hotel because of the location (which was absolutely fantastic!), but we weren’t expecting to have such an exemplary stay- it was truly amazing considering the price point.||||First and foremost, the staff were the absolute crown jewel of the hotel- Crystal and Summer were delightful to deal with, always friendly and willing to help! They would welcome us back to the hotel, chatting with us and making us feel so welcome. Anything we requested was no trouble! More water bottles, umbrellas, help with laundry room payment, etc. The bar/restaurant staff Lim, Andy, Leo and Tony were also fabulous. We were also assisted by various trainees who were second to none- very helpful and always aiming to please. The hospitality of everyone at Campanile Jing’an was amazing. We really cannot emphasise how great the staff were, they are an absolute asset to the hotel! ||||The rooms were extremely clean and well kept- as the hotel is quite newly renovated there is nothing amiss with the facilities. The beds were SO comfy! There were also sockets for USBs/international plugs around the room which was very useful. Each morning the room was immaculately cleaned by housekeeping, who were very attentive and friendly. ||||The common areas always had a good vibe, and one of the best parts was the outdoor seating area in the private driveway- it was nice to come back after a long day and be able to relax outside on the soft seating with a drink. There were often film nights on in the meeting area, and there were sometimes free suppers in the restaurant through the week! The evening dinners were tasty and inexpensive- there’s loads of restaurants and cafes around the area too (about a 7 min walk from Jing’an Temple). ||||We honestly cannot fault our stay, it was the highlight of our trip and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to any of our friends of colleagues. It’s truly a shame that my experience in this hotel was spoiled by the behaviour of a single staff member. If it wasn’t for it I would have nothing but good memories. Rooms are meticulously clean and comfortable. The ground floor amenities are great, large area to hang out, pool table! It’s really nice. Although some sofas are stained. The location is just fine. It’s a very comfortable walking distance to many attractions and beautiful strolls although it’s not centrally located within the nicest area but just few minutes walk. Unpleasant and disturbing experience was with a male staff member who was instructing me I can’t invite my daughter to my room without presenting her physical passport. I wanted her to enter the room during the day and she could’ve present the picture of her passport. I don’t argue with rules even though they seem senseless. But the way this person talked to me was outrageous. He basically raised his voice at me and was ordering me instead of informing me. After that conversation my daughter arrived unaware of my prior encounter and faced same treatment that left her shaken! It was absolutely absurd. This person acted as he was rather a policeman than a hotel staff. It’s truly shameful because every other single staff member I encountered during my week long stay at the hotel was nice beyond expectations. It’s also a shame cause this person spoke English fairly well it’s a pity he didn’t know how to take advantage...
