I'm reviewing the Huashan Worldwide Medical Center.
This place is good for one-time problems, like if you have an infection and you need antibiotics. You won't have to wait long and they'll take you where you need to go. That's the good.
If you have a chronic condition that requires monitoring and prescription medication that needs to be taken over time and requires refills, then you will see that this place is a money grab. The last time I went there, my doctor told me to come back in six weeks, so I made an appointment for six weeks later, but they would only sell me a four-week supply of the medication she prescribed. When I went back four weeks later to get more medication, they said I had to pay 1000 RMB for a "consultation" just to get another prescription for the medication that the doctor said that I will need to take for a long time. They don't do refillable prescriptions. The only reason I can think of for that is so they can force you to pay 1000 RMB for an unnecessary "consultation" just to get the medication that you need. This is a shakedown.
Furthermore, they are almost impossible to reach by phone. I usually have to call four or five times before someone finally answers.
Needless to say, I will be looking for a new...
Read moreI had surgery at this hospital in 2021 (end) for a broken finger and I was extremely disappointed with my experience. The surgery itself seemed fine, but the follow-up care and communication from the hospital was lacking. After the surgery, my finger remained disfigured and swollen. Despite multiple follow-up visits, the hospital only suggested me to keep moving and massaging my finger. Roughly four months after the surgery, a crack developed in my fingernail and pus began to come out whenever I moved my finger. I returned to the hospital for help, but they offered no solutions and only prescribed antibiotics for the pus. Half a year after the surgery, a white object began to grow out with the crack in my nail. It turned out to be a piece of yarn with a small plastic piece that had been used to hold my bone in place (some sort of anchor) during the surgery, but had become loose and was now causing damage to my nail. I need a second surgery to fix the issues caused by the first one, which involves removing my nail. I would highly recommend to avoid this hospital for any serious medical...
Read moreHuashan international/VIP clinic visit for my wife. Much cleaner and orderly than a local ward, however still took a while to understand the system. There was no general practitioner on hand so you have to tell them what kind of specialist you want to see, which is not what we are used to in the West.
English services: basic to average. Doctor was able to assess the situation and give his conclusion, however did not have the english (not medical) ability to explain his logic/reasoning of diagnosis. I had to translate to assure my wife that his diagnosis seemed correct.
Sent for a Ultrasound scan (efficient) and skipped the long line of people waiting. Overall time: 1.5 hour. Cost 600RMB for consultation, around 2000RMB for...
