I've stayed her twice within a short period of time and in a standard and deluxe room (can't remember the specific naming). The staff are friendly enough and always helped with directions or room questions. Many people here have complained that there isn't great customer service here, but you're greeted and interacted with in a friendly but efficient manner and they're never rude. If you want sickly sweet concierge type staff, book a hotel buddy. ||||The rooms are clean to the point of above acceptable. Again, if you want the grout in the bathrooms bleached and floors that shine, you're expecting too much of your hostel budget. But bedding and towels are clean, the floor is swept and there is plenty of dust free storage. ||||My first trip, I was on the 1st floor and in a room at the end of a long corridor. The sound carries horrifically through these hallways and your door does little to stifle it. I was woken up constantly by inconsiderate arrivals in the middle of the night. 11pm, I've got not problem with. 3am and shouting how "epic it is to be in China".....not so much. This obviously isn't wholly the hostels fault, but a little insulation around your doors might help. ||||My second trip, I was in a deluxe room on the ground floor to the side of the hostel. You get your own decking with a chair and table in these rooms which was a nice touch. You also have a TV and hairdryer, unlike the other rooms. The bathroom felt a lot larger but their both fine. Despite these little extras, I would avoid these rooms at all costs. You have a large window and door which does absolutely zero to dampen sound outside. The cleaners are up at an ungodly hour and don't care who hears them. The doors to these rooms don't seem to lock easily so everyone slams them shut, shaking the whole wall of windows along with their own. Then there is an area where they hang washing on the room of these rooms. You can hear everyone stomping around all day and night here too. Totally not worth the money and if I'd stayed in this room the first time, I wouldn't have come back. ||||My final point on this hostel is the atmosphere. The bar area is large and well furnished with tables, chairs and a pool table. Food is only served 8-2 and 5+, and the staff literally shout at you if you bring outside food in. I brought a bubble tea back with me at 4:50 and fully intended to buy dinner at the hostel with 2 guests, but the barman shouted at us to leave with the drink so we went elsewhere. I think this weird attitude and the odd food times create a strange atmosphere where people don't really interact or create any sort of buzz. ||||I would stay here again because of the price and location to public transport, but would absolutely pick...
Read moreStayed at this hostel a couple of days ago. Here are my pros and cons:
Pros: Decent price. Okay location near a subway. Stayed in a private room- good amount of space for a couple.
Cons:
Internet: Terrible. The worst connection. Honestly it’s the worst internet I’ve ever used in my life. So slow and just not convenient when you are trying to look up stuff to do in Shanghai.
Staff: The lady called Shannon who works at the front desk is quite rude. It seems like when we tried to speak to her it’s a bother for her. It’s not very welcoming and isn't professional. I suggest you get someone else for the front desk as it’s not good for business. However the two gentlemen that work behind the bar are friendly.
Social areas: I was shocked at how quiet and antisocial this hostel was. Not like other hostels I’ve stayed in. Going into the common spaces was like walking into a library. Everyone on their laptops in silence. If you want a more lively hostel and to meet people, do not stay here.
Overall I give this hostel a 2/5. I would not recommend anyone to stay here unless it’s purely...
Read moreWe hired a luxury room in the garden. We could choose and had finally the room at the end of the garden. It's very quiet there, room is big enough, there is a terrace and we had nothing to do with the hostel. Staff is ok, English ok. Bathroom is ok.||Wifi is nothing, not even sending a mail was possible. Maybe when sitting near the reception it would be better?||Prices for breakfast, food and drinks are too high. It's better to go to the family mart for breakfast, there are " of them between the mrt station and the hostel. In the metro station exit 7 is a food street, there you have a choice for a good price||Location is good. With mrt line 2(10 minutes walking) you can go anywhere in the city. This line has connection with all the big mrt lines in Shanghai||From Pudong airport you take the maglevn then line 2, it cost...
