I stayed at L Hotel with my family during 8-10 October 2014, travelling in Macau most of the time. There are pros and cons of the hotel. ||||Pros :||||- Location is convenient. Gongbei customs is just 6-7 mins walk from hotel. If going through underground mall from the border, take exit 1 and 2 which will lead you to G/F of L Hotel. Signage in the mall shows clearly the direction. ||- In terms of room rates, I think it is value for money when I paid RMB462 per night for Executive seaview room. Despite it is not all 180 degree seaview, I can see clearly the river across Zhuhai and Macau. It was pleasant experience to see the sun up in the sky early in the morning. Tips is to book with ctrip early but keep tracking room rates in the website. I booked 2 rooms at least 1 month before check-in with each RMB5xx without breakfast. Almost 1 week before check in, I found better offer at RMB462 with buffet breakfast and upgrade to Executive seaview room. I cancelled previous booking and re-booked immediately to secure better offer. The second booking required C-money, that means to provide credit card information as guarantee. That is fine with me. ||- In the room, you got everything you need eg basic toiletries, hair dryer, kettle, a small fridge, TV (Sony LCD), scale, etc. The hotel is very thoughtful to include a sanitized floor mat for shower. My mother is 70+ and really needs to avoid any accident during shower. The Japanese toilet makes me feel warm when I use it. Interesting experience. Water pressure is good enough for me to enjoy shower. There is rainshower as alternative. Another good thing is the area for shower where I did not see any leakage of water after shower. The waterproof design of the shower door should have the credit. ||- Staff from front desk, doorman, chef at restaurant to the lady who is responsible to clean up room, all wore smile and greeted me and family. I think it is their normal practice to greet room guests. ||- Buffet breakfast is quite good in terms of the room rates that I paid for. The restaurant is on the same floor of front desk. Spread is wide enough for breakfast, eg congee, noodles (made to order), bread, salad with 3 dressings, fried rice, corn, dim sum, etc. Tea, milk, hot water and fruit juice are also free flow. Fruit juice is not freshly squeezed type, though. Fruits like water melon and honey dew melon are there. Quality-wise, I think it is higher than expected in general. Dumplings and noodle stand are highly recommended. If the restaurant can serve better barbequed pork buns (char siu bau), I will be happier. The small and round bread are not soft enough for me. Perhaps, these two things are the only think that I don’t prefer. For the rest, it is quite good. ||||||||Cons : ||||- I called operator to arrange wake up call for 7:30 am the following day. But it turned out that nobody called me. I was eventually awoken by my mother instead. Fortunately, there was nothing important to do early in the morning. If I have to catch a flight, it could be a problem. ||- 2 bottles of Watsons distilled water are placed very near to kettle, very eye catching. They are not complimentary and ask for RMB1x each. The complimentary ones are down below, near the fridge. I think it is quite tricky for room guests to overlook it. I reminded my family to use those complimentary bottles first. ||- Hope the hotel will no longer use soap. I did not want to unpack the soap and use it. If possible, hotel can use small bottle of handwash instead. ||||If I go to Zhuhai for trip, may stay at L Hotel again provided I can book with attractive room rates as this time. I was happy to find Shanghai Story in the underground mall near McDonald’s. They have no outlet in Hong Kong or Macau. I took the chance of big sale and bought 2 scarves, each RMB99. Good price in terms of their...

Read moreThis hotel is located across the road from the boarder crossing with Macau, so in a convenient location. ||I was due to arrive at the hotel at 6pm, but at 4pm got a phone call from booking.com to say the hotel were going to release my room as I hadn't checked in yet. After a very expensive phone call (roaming charges) I manage to convince them I was coming and not to give away my room. ||On arrival I was checked into my room which took a while as no one spoke English. My room was tiny, there is no where to put your suitcase without blocking your way around the room. The room stank of cigarettes (even though it was a no smoking room) and had an ashtray. The bed was a small double, so you wouldn't want to stay here is there were two of you. The room I booked was meant to be a business room with wifi but I could not get a signal. I called the front desk to complain but again no English, eventually someone came up to my room and I showed them on my laptop, she said she was going to fix it and would come back but never did. I called down again but they said they didn't understand. ||There is no room service at this hotel and the restaurant downstairs is a buffet and not a great one. The staff seemed almost surprised when I asked to eat dinner there. After a long journey I didn't fancy wandering around on my own late in the dark. Dinner was a disappointment so I didn't bother with breakfast.||I was so unimpressed by the hotel, service and smelly room that I checked out early, but was still charged for the full stay.||I would not stay at this hotel again. My colleague stayed at the hotel Guotai around the corner which...
