HOTEL INTERSUITES — Hotel in Barranquilla

We stayed two nights in Barranquilla at the Hotel Atlantic Blue at 123000COP/£40 per night towards the end of our 2 weeks in Colombia and I wish it could have been longer! Barranquilla was a refreshing change to some of the other coastal towns - cheap, not touristy, delicious inexpensive food, friendly people and the amazing La Troja for the best salsa! The hotel is located in the northern part of the city which is supposed to a nicer area but we didn't feel unsafe at any time in Barranquilla. It's very close to La Troja but there are discotecas everywhere and we were lucky to hear/see local Vallenato band playing next door to our hotel on the first night. The staff at the hotel are extremely kind and helpful. The hotel room was modern, spacious and very clean. Barranquilla was a highlight of our trip to the Colombian coast and this hotel, location, service etc...

We booked through agoda.com. At the time of booking no double rooms were listed as available so we booked a triple room. After arriving it was clear that there were many double rooms available. In contrast to our experience at San Martin in Cartagena, Atlantic Blue offered no reduction eventhough we were put in a double room. I did not make a scene but neither did I appreciate their attitude. This hotel is OK in many respects but the location is awful and the breakfast has scant choices. En primer lugar me gustaría felicitar al fotógrafo de la página, sin duda se consiguió el objetivo, que reservásemos y fuésemos víctimas de una gran estafa.||||Valga decir que nos hemos alojado en carnavales y que hemos pagado más de 300.000 cop por una noche en habitación doble. Pero aunque hubiese pagado 30.000, igualmente sería una estafa.||||Las habitaciones dan miedo. Ventanas que no cierran bien, ropa de cama que no invitan a tumbarse, baños con 2 mini toallas y una pastilla de jabón. Muebles viejos, y cables mal rematados.||||Se encuentra encima de un local que tiene la música puesta hasta que ellos quieren, en nuestro caso, las 4 am. Y aquí es donde viene el primer timo. Porque a las 7pm, y viendo lo que podía pasar, consultamos en recepción y se nos dijo que ese local a la 1am quitaba la música... Mentira. ||Lo peor fue que a la mañana siguiente, al protestar a otro trabajador, nos dijo que no nos podían haber dicho eso porque ese local no apaga la música nunca a la 1am...||||El segundo timo es el "desayuno". Entras en el restaurante ( felicitaciones de nuevo al fotógrafo de la web porque la realidad y al foto se parece menos que un huevo a una castaña), y tres hombres con indumentaria de mantenimiento, te enseñan la papaya, los huevos, el caldo y el Sandwinch. Eso es todo. Y muy mala pinta todo.||||Total, que después de pagar 300.000 cop por una noche, en la que pasas bastante asco, no duermes nada y te vas sin desayunar, pues le pongo una estrella porque no me da la opción de poner cero.||||No vayan a este hotel, se arrepentirán de...
