City Express Junior Bogotá Airport is a comfortable hotel near the El Dorado airport of the Colombian capital. It offers a convenient bus service to take you from and bring you to this air terminal, at no cost.
The hotel is relatively modern and is ideal for a traveler who will be for a short time in Bogota. The service in general is very attentive, in line with the helpful nature of the Colombian people.
The food itself leaves something to be desired in terms of variety and flavor, as well as the service in the restaurant. It is to indicate, however, that there are more options if you move to one of the sister hotels of the chain, which is only a few steps away.
The service in the rooms is excellent with a housekeeper super attentive and willing to satisfy the client.
I should mention that, upon my departure from the city (and the hotel), I left in writing my discomfort regarding some unpleasant experiences in the restaurant and the fact that the advertisement indicated that the water in the rooms was Natural Mineral Water “Manantial”, which was not the case. Upon my return, however, after registering I was approached by both the General Manager and the Food and Beverage Manager to offer their apologies, erasing all discomfort with their continued care that this time my stay was pleasant.
As for the housekeeper, I had my Manantial water bottles replaced constantly.
I recommend the hotel.
Read moreIt was good but not spectacular, I really expected more from this hotel since the price is definitely not cheap.
I bought the Descubre bogota package thinking that the 15% discount was going to be useful since I was staying for 2 nights but the only thing I received was a one-time paper coupon that had a minimum purchase amount listed that was not mentioned on the website.
Apart from this, the restaurant was VERY expensive. It really made no sense to eat there even with the “15% off”, I got a few deliveries made to the hotel and ate twice the amount of food for the same price and quality wasn’t much different. The ingredients seemed like they were bought frozen and their “juice of the day” was horrible.
I had an early flight so I got to the hotel at 11am and I had nothing to do there, I asked if I could maybe get a room earlier but the most they could do was 2:40pm (check-in is at 3pm), I was bored out of my mind and there wasn’t really anything to do at the hotel but sit on my phone and wait.
The floor I stayed in was getting painted and it smelled a lot like it. The staff and people that were painting were nice but it really was uncomfortable to smell the paint while walking the halls and wondering if a bump was going to ruin my clothes.
The bathroom had mold inside the shower and that seems like a very treatable problem but it was very visible. Not only that, they would only provide shampoo and a bar of soap, no conditioner or lotion or anything else, for the price paid I feel like the bare minimum should’ve been shampoo, conditioner and soap since most people that stay in those hotels don’t take these toiletries with them.
The bathroom mirror had a sign that said to check their vending machine if I had forgotten any toiletries but the vending machine only sold a few snacks so even the signs are outdated.
And lastly, on my second day there, I went out to get some food I had ordered from an outside restaurant (because theirs is crazy expensive and not that great at all) and when I finally got back to my room with my hands full, my key didn’t open my door anymore and I had to go back to the lobby to get it unlocked and walk back with my food getting colder and colder.
On the other hand, the staff, the shuttle drivers, the breakfast attendants and lobby people were all incredibly nice and helpful.
I wouldn’t stay here again and I wouldn’t have chosen to stay here if I knew...
Read moreWe only stayed here as a result of our flight from Barcelona to Bogotá being delayed which meant we missed our connecting flight to San José, Costa Rica. The stay was a courtesy from our airline - Avianca.
The experience was terrible - delayed flight, enormous queue to get the hotel voucher, immigration and passport check, airport security, customs, more security checks, not knowing where to get the bus to the hotel etc etc.
When it became apparent that there was only one bus to take people to various hotels due to Avianca´s inability to keep to their flight times, we had a further wait of about an hour to get the bus to the hotel.
Seeing as Avianca had put us on the first flight the following day, this meant about 2hrs sleep in the City Express before we had to get ready for a 4am pick-up for a 6am flight.
Due to extreme sleep deprivation, all I can remember about the hotel was the tolerant/friendly staff and a clean and comfortable room. Our bags went ahead of us so we didn't use the bathroom in the morning, so I can't comment on the shower etc.
The 'express breakfast' which was available from around 3am was sufficient to get us going for the day, but nothing special.
The hotel, given its proximity to the airport seems to exist mainly for people travelling into and out of Bogotá - presumably on business.
I'm sure it might be OK, but our personal circumstances mean it is a hotel and a city I would never choose to...
