ESTELAR Suites Jones Hotel — Hotel in Bogota, Capital District

We stayed at Estelar Suites Jones for four nights, and unfortunately it did not live up to its four star rating.||When we arrived, our room wasn’t ready. We were told it would be ready by 2 or 2:30, but at 3:00 we had to ask again, only to be told it still wasn’t ready because a lot of people checked out late. We finally got a room at 3:30 with no apology.||On the second morning, I was woken up at 8:30 am by loud banging above our room. The front desk first told me it would stop, but it didn’t. When I went downstairs, I was informed there was daily construction until 2 pm. After complaining, I was told we could change rooms and that the new one would be ready in 20 minutes. In reality, I waited hours before it was ready.||To make matters worse, when moving to the new room, we were asked to pay an extra person fee that turned out to be an overcharge. When we pointed this out, the staff actually called our room twice within 30 minutes telling us to hurry down for the refund—ironic, given how often we were left waiting. One receptionist even implied the mistake was our fault, which was shocking. Again, no apology.||The hotel feels like it might have been nice decades ago but hasn’t been updated since. Rooms and facilities feel tired, the restaurants inside are mediocre, and service is slow. The location is good, with lots of good restaurants nearby, and the price is reasonable, but the additional person fee felt excessive.||And on our last morning in the new room, we were again woken up by banging from above. I have being coming to this location several times and last few years and has always being a great, how ever this time very bad experience with cleaning of the rooms, we booked 5 rooms 2 need it room change even the ladies trying to help you can tell is being a problem foe a while, also never noticed but web offers A/C and it doesn't exist, if you are lucky to have a corner room is better the ones in the middle, hot sauna, refrigerator in one room didn't work two days to replace it, they offered 2 free bottles of water, and they charged us at check out $28.000 pesos and we got email few days later for only $18.000 not sure why, we talk to the staff managers and supervisor I guess and not even an apology but they wanted to charge for kid breakfast and of course it doesn't says that anywhere in the web or at booking, $30.000 pesos per child 5 and 7 years old , is not the amount we didn't paid at the end because we refused for everything that happen to Us, this time, I did got an email from property for review and very nicely reply telling them all the issues we faced this time, and making a comment about not to published on any social media, and the reply was not, even apologetic, was only to give them another opportunity, of course is many of places in Bogota we even stay two more days this trip somewhere else and it was fabulous, we did stay for location purpose, but it will take a lot more than sorry at this time that I did never get. My partner and I have had a lovely stay here. The buffet breakfast so yummy with plenty to choose from. We have been travelling over five months and the bed itself is the comfiest we have slept on since starting our journey. The location is great and near bus stops, bars, restaurants and shopping centres. I also have enjoyed using the gym facilities. The staff have also been really respectful and helpful. Things to work on: Our bathroom wasn't the quality you would expect for the price you pay (we usually start in much cheaper hostels and have had better experiences). Ours wasn't fully cleaned (someone else's hair on the wall), the shampoo and body wash was completely empty, the hairdryer didn't work and the plugs for both the sink and bath didn't work. ( It is worth noting that after talking to staff these things were promptly fixed). I had trouble with the internet when I first arrived that took multiple chats with the staff and about an hour to fix. After that though the internet has been great. Although nice to have gym facilities, the weights machine did not work, there was no water and lack of fan or aircon makes it a stuffy workout. An interesting one for us was the lack of access to free cold filtered water. We more often than not get this in hostels so not having it here was a little bit of a shock (although the tap water from the sink in the bathroom is safe to drink, so it's not the most important thing, just interesting).
