Hotel Aixo Suites By GEH Suites — Hotel in Cartagena

I booked my rooms months in advance thought booking.com for 7 people and a 3 month baby. I purposely booked this location because of its proximity to the cartagena letters and the chiba rumbera pickup spot at 7pm (right outside) and the rooftop pool. I contacted the hotel via WhatsApp at least 7 different times to confirm my reservations and to pay in advance if possible. I was asure over and over again that my reservations was good to go and that payments was going to be maid through booking.com with the card on file. I informed the hotel that I was on my way and that I did not have service on the highway. TO PLEASE contacts me though WhatsApp since I purchased a national Sim card to assist my international data. I was traveling from minca, santa marta to cartagena, its about 5hr drive. On my way to the aixo hotel, at 4pm, I once again contacted them to confirm my reservatio. They confirm my reservation. I arrived at the hotel at 5:30 pm magically my reservations was canceled. They offered to give me other rooms and charge me duble the price. Then that they Could not honor my reservations, unless they send me to Abi in, which ruins all my plans and made me lose about 3 hrs since I did not get my rooms until 7:44pm. Thank you for runing my last night in the country. Could not take my pre-recerved chiba rumbera, or go to the rooftop pool looking over the sea, or walk to the cartagena letters. I did book a standard double room. I checked in quite late after having stored my luggage. So far the staff was also friendly and helpful. We got a room on the 5th floor and already opening the door of the room the disappointment started. It felt not at all cozy. A single light source for the whole room, improvised cabling around the TV, unused but still visible mounting holes in some places dated und cheap-feel furniture. Worstyof all it was very noisy despite being on the 5th floor. Basically no sound insulation between streets and room.

I checked out early and was promised a refund for the other two nights. Despite continously asking for the state of the refund after more than 20 days we still have not received anything. Also that after several days suddenly it was not possible to return the money to a non-colombian account seems like a scheme to be honest. Because that should be known from the beginning and if there would be the willingness to pay the refund then it could have been handled directly on the spot in cash.

Pros: -Absolutely amazing staff. -Small rooms but completely adequate and are equipped with all your needs. -Great breakfast and 24/7 coffee. -Excellent rooftop pool with a beautiful view of the city. -Directly across from the beach. -Daily cleaning services and they do a great job!

Cons: -Gym is horribly outdated. Needs a complete revamp. -Maybe 2 English speaking staff out of 25 people. Don't need experts, but a few more novice speakers would be awesome. -LOUD, LOUD, LOUD. Not necessarily the hotels fault but the main street is insane. Colombians honk their car horns like a bunch of freaks. Also, they blast music from their vehicles like High Schoolers trying to be cool way into the late hours. Thicker, double pained windows NEED to be installed.

Lastly, huge shout out to the girl employee whose name I never got that helped me after a guy on a motorcycle going 10mph stole my phone right out of my hand. She was able to guide me on getting a replacement and allowed me to use her personal phone to make some necessary calls. She went...
