If I could leave a No Star I would. Not sure how this hotel has any positive reviews. From check-in to check out the experience was terrible. Check-in took forever even though rooms were prepaid and had all of my information beforehand. Only given one room key even though we had four guests staying in the rooms. Rooms are small and floors are unfinished. The room has wood flooring that looks like someone was drunk when installing it with big gaps in between each plank. Went to go to the bathroom and the towels had stains on them and looks like they had not been cleaned. The telephone and tv in one of the rooms did not work had to wait for an hour for someone to come and fix it. The remote in the other room did not turn on the control box or change channels if you wanted to watch a different channel you had to manually change it from the box. The ac was either too cold or too hot. Could not adjust the temp to be comfortable. The breakfast buffet that everyone seem to say was excellent was terrible and a waste of money. Eggs were disgusting, fruits were not fresh, and variety was very poor. For the price, you pay it was terrible and not worth the money. Then our last day was the worst. We get back to the hotel after having breakfast at a real restaurant to find out they have no power or water. They tell us 5 minutes and everything will be back on. We wait for over 30 minutes and nothing. No updates from the staff and we have to go to the airport to get our flight at 3 pm. Our room is on the 23rd floor. They gave us a key to make sure we could get into our room but offered no help to bring our luggage down from the 23rd floor so we could make our flight. So my girlfriend, her sister, and I had to go up 23 flights of stairs and carry down luggage for 4 people without any assistance from anyone at the hotel, and the last 3 flights of stairs were in the dark because they had no emergency lighting on those floors. They wouldn't even give you a bottle of water after sweating like crazy going up and down 23 flights of stairs. No, apologizes no nothing. The attitude was just like oh well that is your problem. Needless to say, I will never stay at an Ibis Hotel anywhere and I do not recommend this hotel chain to anyone ever. Save your money and stay away...
Read moreI booked two rooms for several nights. During the first night, a piece of MDF detached from the wall and broke after felt on the floor. the next day I informed the front desk The manager GLADYS GOMEZ called in a very unpolite and rude way. She said that I should pay close to 200 dollars for that piece. I explained that the piece felt on its own. After that, she came into the room with another employee and started threatening me and my family about paying for the piece and how this never happened before. I did not want to spend more time discussing the issue and having a bad time. This event and the hotel staff's response ruined my time at the hotel. Overall the hotel is located in an unsafe area, the front desk was flooded after some pipes broke. All the screens from the wall were removed and several towels were on the floor. It was a terrible scenario. I don't understand how Ibis allows a situation like that. This is not the first time that this incident happened. You can look into other reviews from previous customers. Stay away. Safe your money. It is not worth it at all. Ibis should be careful about training employees about customer service and responding to casual incidents. I hope they start an investigation about the piece that broke and find the cause. I felt cheated and I will never use another Ibis hotel in the future. Ibis Cartagena is a tourist trap and the poorly maintained building has issues that are charged to customers. My other concern is how a hotel is allowed to function while water is pouring from the elevators and front desk. It is not safe at all. I have started a formal complaint at the Ministerio de Comercio, Industria y Turismo to investigate the conditions and revise the permissions to safely operate. I have pictures and videos about these very unsafe conditions. Management GERMAN GUTIERREZ and GLADYS GOMEZ need to do their job to keep customers safe. The hotel is not safe...
Read moreStayed at this hotel to accompany my husband on his business trip for two days. We arrived after a long plane ride in the evening and the staff didn’t even say hello. They were not very welcoming or friendly. I looked at some pictures online and there were pictures of a pool. There is no pool, no gym and no area for lounging really. The hallways in the hotel have a pretty musty smell that I’m guessing is due to the high humidity here. The problem is that they use strong smelling automatic air sprayers to try to mask the smell and it makes it way worse.
The rooms are pretty small and the vinyl flooring in our room was coming apart exposing a bright green sub floor. There are no mini fridges in the rooms, no water bottles and no irons. There are designated floors listed on the elevator where apparently there are irons. I didn’t use an iron because i didn’t want to carry my clothes on an elevator to another floor to iron. You can see the beach from almost every window of this hotel but it’s not a super clean beach. There are “no swimming” signs but they certainly don’t seem to be enforced. Breakfast buffet is pretty good and offers a good variety but eating at the restaurant at any other time of the day is not great. The servers are not very friendly. The food is ok. It is cheap, which is the only good thing. My server for lunch had no idea about the items on the menu when I asked questions. She said she forgot and needed to ask the kitchen. When I ordered my ceviche, she asked if I wanted the red sauce or lime juice and still brought out the wrong thing. I asked for water and she brought what tasted like tap water. I did find out the following day that bottled water was an option but she didn’t offer. I had to find her to pay for my tab and when I gave her a cash tip she didn’t even say thank you. I’m not sure how this hotel has a good amount of good reviews but I would certainly never...
