We had a great experience staying here for a few nights recently. Very friendly staff, good location, amazing amenities, breakfast, cocktails, and stunning rooftop with views for days. Our room was spacious, the gym was pretty massive (largest I've seen in a hotel in Medellin), steam room was great, and they include a complimentary 15min. massage when booking with status via Booking.com or their rewards program. They also included a birthday cake slice since we were here celebrating my birthday. The breakfast was amazing every day that we went (3 times) and each day was an altered menu so it's not exactly the same. Location is great, very close to metro and many malls. I would recommend to order ubers & taxis on the south side of the building though to not have to loop around to get out of the area. All in all amazing stay, one of my favorite hotels in Medellin thus far.

Had a stand-out stay at Faranda. The location is well placed in Medellin. Check-in was easy and swift. Jose greeted us with a drink and showed us to our room. We had a few problems like struggling with the safe and tv, but a member of staff arrived within less than 5 mins to solve our issues. The rooms are clean and tidy and adequate for short stays. The shower is amazing. I did find the room a little dark as the lights are placed around the room and not in the centre, but this is a small issue. We had a room opposite the lift but cannot hear any noise whatsoever. The breakfast is pleasant and the bar/restaurants are very nice places to have food/drinks. All in all a very enjoying stay.

My husband and I just spent a week at the Faranda. The room was very clean, and it is very close to a nice part of town. We were able to walk to the Santafe Mall, the metro, and many restaurants. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We especially appreciated Juan's friendly face and positive attitude. The rooftop breakfast in the morning was amazing, and it didn't disappoint. There is a large selection to choose from. Dahiana was so sweet and helpful to me, and she kept my coffee cup full. We really enjoyed our stay here, and we will stay at the Faranda again when we get a chance to visit the beautiful city of Medellin.

I was one of a party of six in separate rooms amounting to at least 30, probably 35 person nights during 10th-18th May - so a reasaonably significant booking with the prospects of return visits later in the summer.

The hotel is OK. Very convenient for metro if not the liveliest or gastronomically rich area. It has a wonderful view from the roof top bar/restaurant. Rooms are fine - not exceptional but comfortable enough except for caveats below. Many of the staff work hard and try to give a good service - special shoutout for roy on reception.

But can't get away from some teething problems. Hotel is new. Downstairs bar was not open at all, and coffee area is bland and minimalist. Breakfast upstairs is good, but restaurant menu is not particularly extensive. Service is friendly but a bit hit and miss in terms of attentiveness. Overall there is a soulless-ness to the property that contrasts dramatically with the vitality and dynamism of much of Medellin and certainly of the other hotel I have stayed in there.

The rooms are odd - the shower drainage is not good enough to stop the room flooding if you put the shower on forcefully. No flanels or cotton buds - not important but little touches overall are minimalist. The inroom safes are very temperamental - failing repeatedly in my case. Minibar prices exorbitant but that is hardly unique in this type of hotel - and I'll come onto the laundry shortly. Aircon rather extreme - either too cold or the room is too warm...no happy medium...no balconies as far as I can see either...and I had a 'superior room'.

And so to the reason the hotel is very unlikely to get my or my groups' business again - so missing out on at least a further 30night+ stay.

I did one laundry load whilst there and paid it on checkout - in a rush to get to the airport for which you need to leave plenty of time.

Only at the airport did I realise the bill of 176000COP (say close to £40) could not possibly be right for three shirts, t-shirts, pants and socks. The hotel made it incredibly difficult to query the bill but eventually conceded that effectively they had overcharged by around $45,000COP. They refused to reimburse this (+/-£10) on the grounds that the laundry was an external supplier and nothing to do with them. Absolute nonsense - I gave them the laundry, told them exactly what I wanted them to do with it, they failed to provide an itemised bill until very belatedly, then the bill differed from my order, and they eventually had to admit I had been significantly overcharged.

But beside all that - where is the customer service? If they made an honest error (which I think is what occured) why does the customer have to pay?

Its a shame, because now I am forced to post this review - which is totally fair - not a one star which would have been justified on this incident alone). And I and my team will look elsewhere in July-September. I'd have welcomed having a Faranda Collection option for its nearness to metro and the rooftop bar and the overall friendly staff - but heh, there are other hotels with these characteristics + more consistently attentive restaurant service + fewer snagging problems and soulless public spaces...

Overall, Medellin is a wonderful city and the Faranda Collection although not in the best location is not badly placed to enjoy the city. However, I would look elsewhere if you are visiting for the first time or if you have other hotels you like...

I was massively let down by the hotel. |We booked this due to my wedding taking place in Medellin, we also had various rooms booked for friends which had travelled for our Wedding. |I arranged airport pick up with the hotel, upon arrival i was charged an extra $20.000 and told it was due to the wait, it was barely and hour which would be a standard if not considered quick for immigration at JMC airport. I had family travel 2 days prior who had waited 5 hours. |Communication with the hotel prior was very on and off, they were not willing to provide much to help with my wedding preparations on the day and only agreed to allow the use of a meeting room after I threatened to move hotels. They also offered no type of special rates considering we had multiple rooms booked. |The breakfast was good and the restaurant staff were all lovely. |Housekeeping was a nightmare, the rooms were sometimes not cleaned until the evening, including the day of my wedding it had not yet been made at 2pm, we wanted to take pictures in the room with my bridesmaid which was not possible as the room was a mess. |Our friends had issues with their rooms, with 2 different rooms being infested with ants, despite one then being ‘fumigated’ the ants persisted and they had to request to move room. |I booked via booking. Com and later realised i was overcharged. Despite the confirmation station the amount and that I would be charged in USD, i was charged in COP. Once i saw my statement the amount in GBP was over an extra £150 than that stated, over $800.000 COP at the time. I have reached out to the hotel and have been ignored or replied to stating the message will be passed on but still no reply. It has been over a month now with no update or even an explanation as to why i was overcharged. |Extremely disappointing, would not see myself staying...
