One of the many popular dishes here in Medellin is Sancocho. If you are not familiar with this dish, I will tell you that if made properly it is one of the most delicious Latin type of stews. I had this dish in several countries. I tried some of my wife's Sancocho and I must say, we were both disappointed . There was a large portion, however, there was very little flavor. Lots of vegetables were in the dish along with plenty of beef and pork, but all in all...this dish was a disappointment. Mine was better. I ordered the pescado. It is a fried sea bass served with a shrimp sauce, rice, and a salad. It was a great improvement over the Sancocho, but it could have been a great dish if only the chef would add some seasoning. I had the pleasure of dining at Hatoviejo Oviedo for the first time, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience. From the moment I arrived, I was made to feel incredibly welcome by the staff. The service was impeccable throughout the meal, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting.

The menu offers a great variety, and I was excited to try a couple of dishes. I went with the Aborrajado del Pacífico (appetizer-deep fried plantain stuffed with cheese and white fish) and the Ajiaco (entree-full chicken soup) and both were fantastic. The presentation was beautifully done, and each dish had incredible flavor – fresh, vibrant, and full of depth.

Overall, it was a delightful dining experience, and I will definitely be back to enjoy more of what this place has to offer....

Food was so tasty, and the prices were fair, the waitress was friendly, I took away one start for the following reason = the waitress asked me if I wanted to add the tip to the check I told her “no” I’m going to leave her cash, she went ahead and added the tip either way, I didn’t say anything because it’s okay I told her I will be paying by card then she went ahead and added the tip AGAIN TO THE CARD, of coarse I caught on because I’m originally from Colombia so I know better.....
