In the era of modern hospitality, Estelar Apartamentos in Medellín serves as a stark reminder of how not to run an establishment. As one steps into the purported sanctuary they’ve chosen to call their temporary home, the absence of air conditioning hits with an oppressive warmth reminiscent of a summer’s afternoon without reprieve. A week—that’s how long it took for this essential amenity to be restored. One might wonder if they’ve time-traveled to an era where such conveniences were novelties.||||No hot water compounds the discomfort. It’s a jarring realization in the morning when one expects a warm embrace but is greeted instead by an icy slap, stripping away any illusions of relaxation.||||Yet, the true masterclass in anxiety is presented by the patio door. Without a lock, it becomes a gateway to unwanted guests from neighboring apartments—a glaring oversight in an age where security should be paramount.||||The room’s closet, ostensibly a space for guests to store their belongings, mirrors the dysfunction of the apartment—it’s broken. The lights, or lack thereof, punctuate the space with patches of darkness, serving as poetic metaphors for the management’s attention to detail.||||The key system appears to have been sourced directly from a 1990s movie set, where nostalgia trumped functionality. It’s an inconvenience, to say the least, and at worst, a security hazard.||||Attempts to reach out for help are met with either a haunting silence on the phone or an empty front desk—a Houdini act that the staff seems to have perfected. When they do grace guests with their presence, the lack of professional training is glaringly apparent. Estelar Apartamentos offers an education in inhospitality, teaching by way of omission.||||To label Estelar Apartamentos a disappointment would be generous. It’s a potent reminder that in a city brimming with promise and potential, there remain those places that are best left in the annals of history, and certainly off...
Read moreMy family and I spent 9 nights at Estelar Apartamentos in Medellin. The price was great, given the exchange from dollars to pesos. The location is PERFECT. The Carulla grocery store is right next door and it is open 24/7. The Santa Fe Mall is right across the street, and the Oviedo mall is about a 5 minute walk. They are all great. El Poblado is beautiful and one of the best areas of Medellin. We had a two bedroom/two bathroom apartment with kitchen, living room, and dining room. It was recently remodeled and it was super comfortable. The first couple of days (during the holidays) the air conditioning was not working, but the staff made sure it was fixed for us (they had to call an outside vendor). Breakfast was included and it was amazing. There was a great selection of fresh fruit, eggs, empanadas, broth, rice, coffee, arepas, chocolate, yogurt, breads, and pastries. Service at the restaurant was great. Carlos was especially kind and professional, and he worked every single day we were there. He was very attentive and helpful. I used the treadmill at the gym every day. The elliptical was unfortunately broken, but I was able to work out enough with the available equipment. We also used the jacuzzi and it was very nice. All the common areas are beautiful, remodeled and extremely clean. The staff at the front desk is very friendly and helpful, and the cleaning staff also made sure we had everything we needed and left our apartment very clean every day. While there were a couple of issues (see above, air conditioning/elliptical), nothing is ever perfect, especially during COVID, and so I am giving Estelar Apartments 5 stars because, overall, we had a wonderful stay and couldn't have been happier...
Read moreHighly dissapointed in our return visit to Estellar Apartamentos, the last time it was amazing. Close to Sante Fe mall and Carrulla for grocery. Its an easy and accessible spot.
Alejandra & Julieth are amazing at breakfast. Kind and caring.
Solemn at the front desk was kind and compassionate. Always trying to help us solve the issues and quickly.
However this time was not ok.
The room was goregous, spacious and clean, but we arrived to a room with no batteries in the air co remote, no TV remotes, broken shelf and knocked over bottles in the bathroom and the traffic/construction was horrendous and kept us up.
They switched our rooms easily.
In the new room, we had air co and TV remote, but no batteries to use them, no hot water in the shower and when we went to open the blinds, they tore and fell down... the same week our floor had wedding guests screaming for 3 days and partying all night, setting off the neighbors dogs and it was an awful cycle. 3 days of np sleep. One of the days we came back and the cleaner left our stove on, on accident.. we paid for laundry that was supposed to be returned the following day when the room was cleaned and after a few inquiries we got it at almost 8PM that night. 2x our keys wiped and we got lo locked out of our room and needed them to be fixed to enter the room.
This is not the usual for Estellar Apartamentos, I guess it was just a rough couple weeks.
No matter what, each issue we had was fixed as quickly as possible and everyone was very kind about it. Service...
