Ok so the truth be told, this hotel is old and in need of many repairs. With that being said ill give them credit, because they are in the process of remodeling it. We were first given a room on the 7th floor. We had concerns about being on the 7th floor with only one small service elevator working. But after seeing and smelling other rooms on the 2nd floor with the musty humid smell we opted to stay in the higher floor since they smell good. A/C worked great but was always a bit to cold. Unable to adjust much. The elevator actually was very fast and we rarely had to wait mor than a few minutes for it. There is no wi fi in the rooms! Also the wifi in the lobby worked but was very slow. Tried to find an internet Cafe but these only had thier own computers connected to the internet. So concerns with Spyware. Ended up using my cells wi fi hot spot. But still not that great. Room had old worn furniture, but the beds were very comfy. Normal Cable TV with about 30 channels. Yes the ceiling was leaking in various spots throughout the hotel. But there were several construction working in various parts of the hotel. Including the two main elevators and exterior walls. I would say in another 6 to 9 months they should have the remodeling well under way. They beach are was a bit smaller but nice and private from public. The pool was nice. But decking is weathered. The main lobby had water damage on the ceiling. But again. They are working on it. The buffet was my biggest disappointment, the food was mediocre at best. The fruit and salad bar was fresh and good. But the rest not so much and please dont run out of the main course on the buffet. It was all inclusive eat and drink. Drinks were normal. The service and people by far made up for all the other faults the hotel has. Always friendly and smiling. Excellent attitudes almost all. Even when the desk clerk accidentally charges me 900 mil for room services that should have been 90 mil. He came and found me and corrected his mistake. What wonderful honesty and he is to be commended! In conclusion. This could be a fantastic historic hotel, hopefully they get the remodeling done right..and please improve the buffett and seriously get wifi in all the rooms. This is 2023 already. And fix the main...
Read morePlease avoid this place. I am not a picky person at all but this place is TRASH. Also please ignore any positive reviews you see. Please please please don’t believe them. The place is bad bad bad.
Let’s break down all of the problems with the place. Firstly, everything is really old and run down . There are construction signs everywhere, and apparently it’s been that way for a while, judging by the reviews I have been reading.
There is absolutely no Wi-Fi in the rooms, so this is not good at all if you are a foreigner visiting Colombia. I’d like the hotel to know that this is absolutely unacceptable. They say there is no way to have Wi-Fi in the rooms because of the design but this is false. The reality is that they are just too cheap to install a network, despite the high price for rooms here.
One of the rooms we booked had no working air conditioning and was directly above a gym with blazing music. When we went to ask about changing the room…almost no one spoke English except for one male attendant who rudely informed us that there was nothing they could do (thankfully we were able to talk to a much friendlier girl the next day who changed our room.) But when we changed rooms, the new one had no water pressure in the shower and barely any hot water. How is this acceptable??
Guests have to use the employee elevator. One tiny elevator for all guests and employees. The main elevators are broken.
The buffet restaurant is really hit or miss. The breakfast is good, but the lunch and dinner options tend to be overcooked and bland. The Henriette restaurant is pretty good. The restaurant outside by the pool is gross in terms of food quality with not great service.
Update: See the expected generic response from the hotel. Do not let this place steal your money.
Overall, this place just has too many negatives and I feel ripped off. I anticipate a generic response on here from the manager at some point, but I’d like to let that person know that their hotel is one of the worst I’ve ever been to and it almost ruined our vacation. Shame on the owners...
Read morePros: *spacious rooms super friendly staff, with special thanks to Hector and Sandra at the Buffet. Both were very nice, along with all the waiting staff. By the 5th day one staff member responded, when I offered to give our room number, that she did not need it because we were "family". The maid did an excellent job of cleaning: washing the tiled floor every day *very nice pool by the beach dive facility next door, whose boat picks you up at the hotel's private dock convenient location cute little private beach, convenient for swimming in calm water large balcony with beautiful ocean view Cons general state of disrepair: broken tiles in bathroom, leaking ceiling in the closets which got all our clothes wet on the first day ( we had to remove everything from the closet and put a towel on the floor. It never got repaired our entire stay) *AC is too cold in the rooms, and you cannot regulate it, but if you ask, a maintenance person comes and closes half the vents, which solved it for us. in the lobby, elevators etc... the surfaces look disgusting, full of smudges and fingerprints that never get cleaned, including the glass doors of the main entrance. The buffet food is average at best, although it will feed you. Desserts are particularly bad ( REALLY bad). But it is cheap. *The Internet is very slow, when working at all. It is available only in the lobby, and it is OK to catch the occasional email, but do not expect to load a web page or do your flight web check in. They also have two desktop computers available in the lobby, but they do not seem to be wired to the ethernet, so they are as bad as...
