Ballena Paradise Apartahotel — Hotel in Bahía Ballena

This was such a beautiful place to stay after an iffy stay at a hostel nearby! It was PARADISE. Brand new place that had just opened, I stayed in January. Had a nice little pool that I had to myself most of the time. Four stars only because I slipped and fell pretty badly on the pool deck and down the stairs and bruised my (already broken) tailbone pretty badly. I would suggest adding tread or some sort of grip to the pool deck, as well as the stairs.

Beautiful apartments, brand new cookware. Flames on the stove were HUGE (wrong flame heads). Air conditioning was such a lovely respite. Towels and linens included. Neighbors were a little obnoxious with their music and dogs, but once I was inside of my apartment, I couldn't hear them--only when I was out enjoying the pool in the evening. Ten minute walk to restaurants, grocery and National Park Beach. GREAT location. I felt safe as a solo guest. Employees were helpful and tried their best with their limited English. Had the pleasure of meeting one of the part-owners who suggested places to go see in the area, very friendly and helpful. I just checked prices and it looks like they've gone up, but if the price was right, I would DEFINITELY stay...

I'll start with the positives. The property is beautiful. The apartment looks like the photos. And the pool is great.

However, we had a very unfortunate experience. In four nights, we killed close to 10 cockroaches. That was gross. The sheets were stained when we arrived. We had to sleep on top of the sheets the first night. Our towels were also stained. And there is no hot water in the kitchen, which makes washing dishes difficult.

I believe in a compliment sandwich. So, I'll end this with the fact that the staff were very apologetic and nice, despite the fact the hotel refused a refund after night one so we could...
