I was at the worst yoga class ever. In fact, I taught it. I never thought I would share this story because it is embarrassing enough. Why a bad yoga teacher? Late to class Minimal to no breathing cues Same class every day No warm-ups leading to a purpose or an apex of the class Forces you into a pose Doesn’t ask or check for injuries
ONLY MARKETING! But can’t say much for the teacher training itself. Definitely seemed to be more about the money than anything else. Very American in the approach, lots of hokey slogans, low tolerance for diversity in thought or action, to the contrary, this program was extremely militant, more like a boot camp than anything else, not just in the grueling schedule, but in the way that management deals with the students, ruling by bullying rather than kindness. Nothing very yogic about the behavior of the "yoga teacher" Debbie Krejci and non-qualified and non-certified surf instructor Leandro, in fact I found them consistently rude, short tempered, and ungiving of their time (unless you were interested in buying something like a tour or more surf lessons) which created a really bad overall vibe, as management does set the tone and this is not the way to treat people if you want to create a positive experience. Debbie and her business partner Leandro are very new in the Uvita area. Taking my yoga and surf lesson with them in Bahia Ballena - Uvita area was the worst part of my trip in Costa Rica. I recommend checking so many options for booking a yoga and surf training school near the Marino Ballena...
Read moreWe stayed in a beautiful, clean comfortable and well appointed Casita on the beautiful grounds. It included a well equipped outdoor kitchen which was adjacent the lush tropical plants. There was also a simply awesome private outdoor shower attached to our bedroom which was so cool. The room was very well equipped with an excellent high quality mattress. Meandering trails through A spectacular hypertropical landscape featuring simply beautiful plants and trees. A++ on the landscaping. A beautifully designed pool with adjacent rancho and seating resides in the center of the property. Of course the property includes a beautiful Yoga deck and large outdoor kitchen. Fantastic stay in a special and beautiful Costa Rican accommodation. Debbie was a great Host. I couldn't recommend Yoga Maya more...
Read moreI'm a regular traveler and would rate Yoga Maya, Debbie's place, as one of the nicest, best located, and real value of all the places I have stayed. The place was very clean, modern, had everything I needed to feel at home, and was an easy walk to all the sites I wanted to see. Also close to a big supermarket which was handy, and few steps to dozens of restaurants and cafes. Communication was great too. I would highly recommend this wonderful Casita. I have the opportunity to enjoy meditation and Yoga classes every morning as part of the Yoga retreat that was taking place at Maya. Debbie is one of the best hostesses I've ever met, she will make you feel at home and treat you like part of her family. Gracias Debie por tu hospitality, I will be visiting you next...
